CONGO ADVENTURE - REPUBLIC OF CONGO - TAILOR MADE JOURNEY

Nouabale-Ndoki National Park in the Republic of Congo and Dzanga-Ndoki National Park in the Central Africa Republic preserve what are among the most beautiful, accessible rain forests in Africa, and the last of their kind on the planet.

These remote Congo Basin parks are home to diverse wildlife such as Forest elephants, Western lowland gorillas, Forest buffaloes, sitatunga and bongo antelopes, Giant forest hogs, numerous monkey species, leopards and a long list of endemic birds, including the African grey parrot. Nowhere else in Central Africa is there such a high probability of seeing all this wildlife in one place.

While wildlife research in the parks is an important focus, Nouabale-Ndoki and Dzanga-Ndoki also provide Africa's newest and most adventurous wildlife experiences for intrepid travelers – access to the world's only habituated Western lowland gorilla silverbacks and their harems; Central Africa's highest concentrations of Forest elephants; and the Ba'Aka, the Central African indigenous people who serve as gorilla trackers and who are the cornerstones of the gorilla habituation programs.

The parks receive a handful of visitors a year, many of them scientists and film makers. Adventurous and intrepid travellers will relish this opportunity to get 'off the beaten track' to persue wildlife viewing in remote and unspoilt areas. Tracks safaris are delighted to offer tailor made wildlife viewing adventures to the Congo Basin - an example itinerary can be found below:

ODZALA - HEART OF DIVERSITY - SET DATE DEPARTURE SMALL GROUP SAFARIS - 6 NIGHTS/7 DAYS

Further south is the Odzala-Kokoua National Park - home to the Western Lowland Gorila.

Wilerness Safaris have just launched their 'Odzala - Heart of Diversity' itinerary to two newly built lodges within the National Park.

The thrill of observing one of our closest relatives in the wild will be undertaken from two intimate, sensitively constructed camps that leave as light a footprint as possible and blend into this remote forest environment: Lango Camp, nestled in mature forest on the outskirts of Lango Bai and with access to the savannah as well as the Lekoli and Mambili Rivers, and Ngaga Camp in the heart of a marantaceae forest.

Republic of Congo Each camp consists of six creatively designed guest rooms, taking inspiration from the designs of the local Pygmy or ‘forest dweller’ groups. Natural, locally sourced materials have been used extensively in the construction of the camps: sustainably harvested hardwoods, bamboo and raffia palm matting.

Republic of Congo Each of the guest rooms will be raised 3-4m above the ground with a wraparound walkway allowing full appreciation of the forest canopy.

The safari departs every Thursday starting from 3 May 2012.

6 night itinerary: US$6,000 per person per trip, single supplement of US$3,600 (Brazzaville to Brazzaville)

3 night itinerary: US$4,500 per person per trip, single supplement of US$2,700 (Brazzaville to Brazzaville)

ZIMBABWE IS BACK!

Tracks Safaris have travelled extensively in Zimbabwe from the capital city Harare to the old colonial town of Bulawayo and over to the fabulous Motopos National Park.

We have stayed at lodges and camps in Hwange - home to some of the largest herds of elephant in southern Africa, enjoyed the wildlife and lake at Kariba and Matusadonia and revelled in the glorious views over the Zambezi River at Mana Pools. Zimbabwe is home to some of the very best wildlife and guides in Africa.

If you are planning a visit to Zimbabwe give us a call - we would be delighted to assist with your travel arrangements.  The country is safe, welcoming and ready for your visit.  Our advice - visit soon to enjoy the great wilderness areas before everyone else does!
