ASILIA REKERO CAMP - MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE
Rekero Camp is ideally located for viewing the migration when vast herds of wildebeest and zebra cross back and forth between Kenya and Tanzania braving the dangers of rivers on their circular trek around the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Close to the Talek and Mara rivers in the south of the Masai Mara, Rekero lies in the heart of one of the most game rich areas in the Reserve. The camp is an intimate, comfortable and relaxed riverside safari camp in the heart of the African wilderness. Hippos grunt in the pools below, the smell of wild sage drifts through the air and herds of wildebeest and zebra often can be seen from the main deck as they cross the Talek River. The location means that fantastic game viewing can continue even when relaxing in camp.
Close to the Talek and Mara Rivers in the South of the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya. The nearest airstrip is Ol Kiombo which is around 20 minutes from camp.
Rekero’s nine spacious tents are laid out along the edge of the Talek River under a network of shady trees. The suites are designed in classic safari style with a fresh, contemporary edge. Each tent has a fully plumbed en-suite bathroom with running hot-water shower and flushing toilet. To make the suites even more comfortable, each tent has a large private veranda with an inviting day bed or couch where you can take in a view of the river.
Two family tents are available at Rekero, featuring a king-sized bed (twin beds are available), 3 single beds and a fully plumbed en-suite bathroom with hot running shower and flushing toilet. The tents are in a unique location offering stunning views of the Talek River and its riverine forest.
Meals are usually enjoyed communally and the chefs are up at dawn preparing everything from scratch. For breakfast the camp offers either a light continental buffet spread or a full English fry-up as well as fresh fruit and juices. At lunch salads and veggies are served with a main course. If you prefer to stay out in the bush the camp can pack a picnic. At 4pm you can enjoy cake and tea or a refreshing iced coffee before your evening drive and dinner is three-courses after your game drive.
