Kiwayu is situated forty kilometres north of Lamu, off Kenya's remote North Coast. It nestles amongst sand dunes overlooking a sheltered lagoon and the Indian Ocean.
Spread out along the shoreline of Kiwayu's white sandy beaches, the 18handcrafted beach front cottages have the ultimate 'Gilligan's Island' feel.
Kiwayu is a natural, simple but luxurious retreat.
Miles of deserted beaches with soft white sand and the soothing sound of waves will soon awaken the senses and lead you back to nature's eternal rhythms.
All one can hear is the sound of the sea, the wind rushing through palm leaves and the melodic twitter of exotic birds.
Kiwayu offers a retreat to those who wish to return to a natural lifestyle and who desire contact with the best and most simple sea-faring life that Kenya can offer.
Staying in spacious cottages (crafted by hand from local materials), spread out along one kilometre of private sandy shoreline, guests will experience tranquillity and ultimate privacy.
Each banda consists of a spacious bedroom, en-suite dressing area and bathroom (hot running water, flush toilet and shower) and sheltered veranda and there is one or more 'Lamu beds', which can easily be converted into spare beds.
The Family Banda consists of 2 connecting bandas (internal path): both bandas consist of a spacious en suite bedroom, both with private seating areas.
The Family Banda also contains 'Lamu beds', which could easily be converted into spare beds.
'Baobabs of Kitangani' Honeymoon Suite is located on a small secluded beach, set on Kiwayu Island - adjacent to the main Kiwayu beach and bandas.
This suite consists of two large open areas (one large en-suite bedroom with open veranda area, and one spacious seating area), set in the shade of impressive baobab trees, and overlooking the tropical clear waters of Kiwayu bay.
There is also a dining and seating area down on the beach – perfect for light lunches or romantic candle-lit dinners. 'Baobabs of Kitangani' has its own private kitchen and staff.
