Kiba Point is an exclusive camp which can be booked privately for small groups. This new 8 bed private camp is set on the banks of the Rufiji River, just down stream from Sand Rivers Selous.

Kiba Point has 4 spacious, airy cottages (2 doubles/2 twins) , made of stone and thatch, which are raised up on platforms above the river line. The interiors are cool and elegant; huge beds with softly draped mosquito nets, planters chairs and sun-beds for chilling out.

The bathrooms are spacious and open, with hot/cold running water, flush toilets, and an indoor and outdoor shower. There are plunge pools for every room and a large swimming pool at the main mess.

The mess/dining area is decked out with plump sofas, a library of books, your own bar, and lots of space to make your own.

It is perfect for private groups of friends and/or families although, due to the openness of the camp, it is unsuitable for young children.

 

ACTIVITIES

All the activities at Kiba Point are exclusive to the camp. Private cars and guides are on hand to take you out for daily adventures:

  • early morning game drives,
  • walking,
  • boating
  • fishing,
  • fly-camping - this option is highly recommended during your stay at Kiba Point, and is available at a supplement. There are spacious mosquito nets to sleep under, equipped with comfortable safari bed rolls. A bucket shower with hot water and a short drop toilet are set up behind camp. Kiba Point staff provide a full breakfast, light lunch and a threecourse candlelit dinner.

HIGHLIGHTS

The sights and sounds of the river and the great variety of adventures to be had along its banks and in the surrounding woodlands. Fabulous sightings of the river’s residents (hippos and crocodiles), and great birding. Game drives, fly-camps, fishing, boat trips and walks through a variety of diverse areas - Steiglers Gorge, Kidai Island, Hot Springs, and Lake Tagalala.

CHILD POLICY

We are delighted to accept children of 6 and over at Kiba Point, but please note that only children of 12 and over can participate in walking and fly- camping activities.

Kiba Point is normally closed from the end of March to the end of May.
