Kwihala Campis located in the northern part of the Ruaha National Park near the Mwagusi sand river, on the edge of the Escarpment in a beautiful and game rich area.
Kwihala means "bush" - and this is some of the most beautiful African bush you will see. The camp is set in a high area with views over the surrounding countryside.
Designed by well-known contemporary African designer – Jacquie Resley - the 150 sq metre spacious mess tent is the main social centre of the camp.
The separate dining and relaxing areas create a homely feel, although canvas walls and open sides leave one with no illusions that one is camping in the bush.
As well as a dining area, there is a separate sitting area with comfortable chairs, reading materials and a bar, overlooking the Mwagusi basin.
The camp consists of six individual and privately located tents. The spacious tents (40sq m) are fully furnished with comfortable beds, integral bathrooms (with bucket showers) and flushing toilets.
Constructed out of light sand coloured canvas and covered by a shade producing fly sheet, the tents are designed to blend into the environment
and to cause as little disturbance as possible to the natural fauna and flora.
There are large gauze windows on three sides of the tent, allowing flaps to be raised so that cool air can pass through. The views from the tents are great - over the beautiful bush of the Mbagi area.
The tents are decorated with locally crafted items inspired by Africa. There is a writing desk and chair, hangers and drawers for your clothes.
Another surprise as you follow the oil lamp lit trail to your tent in the evening is – electricity - not only for lights but also for charging batteries.
