Sue has just returned from a two-week journey to Uganda taking in the wonderfully remote and exclusive Wild Places camps and lodges in key areas of the country.

Uganda is a phenomenal destination for primate viewing and birding – but Wild Places take the experience to another level. From the amazing and remote Kidepo National Park where you can enjoy a whole park to yourself and visit remote tribes, to the stunning Papa’s Camp in the Low Impact zone private reserve in Murchison Falls where you can escape the crowds and sleep next to the roaring Nile – the whole experience was exceptional.

Perhaps the highlight was staying at the Kyambura Private Reserve close to Queen Elizabeth National Park at the comfortable Honeybear Camp. Here you can get completely off the beaten track and stay at a small, tented camp right next to the Kazinga Channel where hippos sing, and elephants come to drink and play.
Not only can you enjoy peace and tranquillity away from the maddening crowds in the private reserve and enjoy sundowners at the beautiful Crater Lakes – you can also trek to see chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge – a once in a lifetime treat!

Spend an hour with chimpanzees and observe their behaviours within the amazing setting of the gorge. Depending on where the chimps are located on the day your trek can be short – ours was just 15 minutes down to the gorge floor – or it can be a few hours. Either way the time you have with the chimps is special – a real glimpse into their complex world and social structures.

Wild Places have a complete circuit of luxurious camps and lodges in some of the very best locations within Uganda – Kidepo, Murchison Falls, Toro-Semliki, Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi. Sue has personally stayed at them all and would be happy to assist you planning your unique Uganda adventure!
