Tracks Safaris- We get you closer to Africa
The Maldives need no introduction for the superb diving and snorkelling opportunities they offer and the islands boast the most amazing palm fringed beaches for those looking to relax after their safaris in Sri Lanka and India.
The Maldives has some of the best diving on the planet and the many atolls offer something for everyone – from small and simple three star islands you can wallk around in minutes and where the emphasis of activities is enjoying the sea and beach to larger, all inclusive islands with a choice of international dining venues and bars, and activities available throughout the day.
Whilst the islands are amazingly beautiful out of the water – for many what lies under the water is the key draw to the warm waters of the Maldivian atolls. The marine life is simply phenomenal and you are likely to see a stunning variety of schooling fish – parrot fish, black sturgeon fish and rainbow runners alongside oriental sweetlips. It is possible to see green and hawksbill turtles, palegis such as grey, black tipped and white tipped reef sharks, many rays including feathertail and eagle rays – and of course manta rays. Watch in fascination as manta rays queue at underwater cleaning stations – gliding gracefully around and above you waiting their turn. Whalesharks can be encountered along the southeast rim of the Ari Atoll.
All the islands have access to superb dive sites and many have excellent house reefs. The water is warm throughout the year and for non divers many islands offer guided snorkelling trips, visits to local islands, dolphin viewing, boat trips and rejuvenating spas – and of course total relaxation in a stunningly beautiful environment!
There is such a choice that many of our guests find picking out one island for their visit difficult – and opt for two or three! We have featured some of our favourite islands below – all carefully handpicked to be small and friendly, offering a good level of comfort, wonderful beaches and good house reefs or diving opportunities.
We have personally stayed and dived on a number of islands in the Maldives and would be happy to advise you on which island to stay on after your safari. We can book any island or resort in the Maldives – take advantage of one of our special offers including free nights and upgrades – call us on 01984 667420 or email sue@trackssafaris.co.uk
