Canoe and Kayaking Safaris

Encounters with animals, whether on canoe or on foot, are up close and awe-inspiring and this type of itinerary is ideal for reasonably fit guests and is led by an experienced guide.

You have an option of a basic explorer style safari - a 3 night/4 day expeditionary styled canoe safari. You carry everything in your canoes and the accommoddation is rustic (small mosquito mesh one man tent) and there is some participation in setting up camp, cooking etc.   Explorer Safaris come with a fully qualified canoe guide who will navigate you down the great Zambezi, however please note you cannot walk whilst on the islands.  The guide will take care of the cooking, washing up and other camp tasks and being semi participatory, you are free to help.

Selinda Canoe Trial - Botswana

This canoeing and walking adventure safari navigates some 70km along the Selinda Spillway in the heart of the Selinda Reserve.

Days are spent paddling eastwards, in stable Canadian-style canoes with cushioned seats, along the Spillway, viewing wildlife and bird species that may be seen along the banks. Nights are spent in fly camps (comprising dome tents with hot bucket showers and short-drop toilets) along the way. The area is well known for elephant, buffalo, sable antelope, roan antelope and wild dog, as well as some 300 bird species. Cheetah, lion and leopard are occasionally seen. The area evokes remoteness and solitude.
