Balloon Safaris

A balloon safari adds excitement and a different perspective to your African safari and whilst it can be considered an extra expense, our clients who enjoyed a balloon safari rated the experience as one of the highlights of their safari.

You will be woken up very early in the morning and transferred to the launch site where you will have the opportunity to watch the balloon inflate – often with a hot drink and snack. As the anticipation builds and the balloon fully inflates you will be given instructions on how to board the wicker vestibule and safety once on board. Drift off the ground and begin your ascent into the sky listening to the bursts of hot air alternating with the sound of silence.

As you gain height you will have wonderful panoramic views of the area below you and often the most magnificent morning skies tinged with pink. You will float at different heights during your flight, drifting down to skim the tops of trees and bushes and to watch wildlife on the ground.

All too soon your balloon safari will be over and you will be given instructions on how to brace for landing. Once on the ground you will be met by the team and often treated to a champagne breakfast freshly cooked for you in the bush. After breakfast you will then be picked up by your guide to finish your safari on the ground and head back to your camp.

Ask us to add a balloon safari in the Masai Mara in Kenya, the Serengeti in Tanzania, Sossusvlei in Namibia, Busanga Plains in Zambia, Oudtshoorn, The Kruger National Park, Cape Winelands and Oudtshoorn in South Africa, The Okavango Delta in Botswana and Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
