ASILIA BUSH HOUSES – TOPI HOUSE –
Topi House is an exclusive-use, three-bedroom house with its own dedicated staff including a private guide. There are no set times – you can decide how to spend your day. The Mara is excellent for viewing wildlife, especially big cats. At Topi House, you’re on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve, where the wildebeest river crossings take place and inside the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy which offers a more exclusive experience. Topi House is also right on a migration route so from July to October it’s possible to see the herds without even leaving the property.
LOCATION
Topi House is located in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in the Mara – Kenya
HOUSE
In a small thorn tree forest in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Topi House is right on the border of the Masai Mara National Reserve. An exclusive-use, three-bedroom property, Topi House is perfect for groups or families who want their own space. A full team, including a chef and house manager, will take care of everything around the house while your own private guide and vehicle mean you can decide when you wouldl like to go out on game drives.
Spend an afternoon relaxing on the veranda watching the Great Migration wildebeest herds that pass right by the house each year or to see the dramatic river crossings between July and November you can drive into the neighbouring Masai Mara National Reserve. At other times of the year you can watch cheetah hunting, find lion on a kill, learn about tracking animals on a nature walk, or spend watch the dawn break across the plains from a hot air balloon (extra charge).
ACTIVITIES
Game drives – you can normally enjoy game drives twice a day in the early morning and late afternoon but as you have a private vehicle you can decide how long you stay out in the bush and what you want to see. From Topi House, you can drive into the Masai Mara National Reserve or stay in the conservancy. Vehicles are either open-sided or closed with pop-up roofs and are equipped with fridges and charging points.
Nature walks – for those keen to learn more about the smaller things that make up the Mara ecosystem a guide can lead you on a nature walk around the property. On foot your guide will spend time examining tracks or dung – always fun for kids – or watching birds, butterflies or ants.
Cultural excursions – the Maasai live in villages around the conservanciesand we can organise visits to certain communities to meet the people who own this land and to learn about the Maasai way of life.
Hot-air balloon safaris – hot-air balloon safari lets you enjoy the landscapes and wildllife from a different perspective. Glide silently over the plains as the sun rises over Africa!
