This superlative itinerary highlights the best of South Africa and takes you on an extended journey visiting Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Sabi Sand Game Reserve, over to Kwazulu Natal and to the iconic Zulu War battlefields of isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.

After a short stay in Johannesburg (this can be extended to experience Soweto), you will fly to Tswalu in the Kalahari Desert in the Northern Cape. Enjoy game drives, horse riding, star-gazing and meet the local bushmen and learn about their culture and history.

You will then fly back to Johannesburg and on to Pretoria for a night before boarding the Blue Train for a two day journey to Cape Town with sightseeing stops on the way. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Grootbos Nature Reserve nested above Walker Bay in the Western Cape to enjoy 4 x 4 game drives, walking trails, horseback riding, mountain biking, whale watching (possible from July to December) and a boat trip to Dyer’s Island to see the fur seal colony there.

Transfer by road to the Cape Winelands and discover some of South Africa’s finest wines – you will enjoy a full day guided tour of the winelands to really appreciate the variety and quality of the vinyards before heading back to Cape Town International Airport in time for your flight home.

We can tweak this itinerary to suit your budget and interests – we have used some of the finest hotels, lodges and camps in South Africa but we are happy to offer a similar option using less luxurious places to stay – please ask!
