ELEPHANT BEDROOM CAMP - SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Samburu National Reserve surrounded by doum palms and other beautiful indigenous trees and shrubs – Elephant Bedroom camp is a small and exclusive camp of 14 luxury tents which are all furnished in rustic African style while offering comfortable and characterful accommodation.
The surrounding Samburu National Reserve is an area of spectacular scenery; its dry plains bisected by the meandering river with the backdrop of Africa's dramatic mountains including Mt Kenya.
Huge herds of elephant, prides of lion, leopard and cheetah amongst other game are regular visitors around the camp providing excellent game viewing in spectacular scenic background of rugged rolling hills.
The camp is set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya.
There are just 14 spacious, insect-proof bedroom tents each with a private veranda overlooking the river - 12 standard tents and 2 delux tents. The ensuite bath-rooms are fitted with double wash basins, hot and cold running water, a flushing toilet and a rain shower. Each tent has a plunge pool on the deck in front of the tent and a sitting area on the deck overlooking the river. Delux tents are quite a bit larger with wooden floors and a separate sitting area with comfortable sofas (below).
The camp is called Elephant Bedroom Camp as a good number of elephant visit during the day and night to feed from the doum palms and drink from the river. On a recent visit there were many elephants in and around the camp.
The lounge and dining areas are decorated in vibrant safari style with soft intimate lighting and fabulous views of the river which makes this a wonderful place to relax in between game drives and before dinner. Breakfast and lunch are often served under the palms and parasols overlooking the river.
Dining is a culinary experience with al-fresco breakfast, 3 course lunch and 4 course candle lit gourmet dinner set either under the African sky or inside the well-appointed dining area.
Elephant, Monkeys and impalas are amongst the camp's many regular wild visitors, whilst Samburu National Reserve has a good number of lions, cheetahs and leopards and offers the opportunity to see many species endemic to northern Kenya – such as the gerenuk and Grevys Zebra.
Game Drives – explore the area in 4WD open sided safari vehicles. A maximum of 6 guests per vehicle.
Bush breakfast/dinner – enjoy having your breakfast or dinner in a stunning setting out in the bush. The camp will provide a picnic lunch for those who would like to go out all day.
Sundowners – enjoy the end of a day with your favourite drink. Your guide will find a beautiful setting to watch the sun go down.
Cultural visits – visit a local Samburu village and learn about a new culture!
Evening entertainment at the camp – enjoy lectures on Samburu culture by the resident naturalist and entertainment by local Samburu warriors.
Guided bush walks – get closer to Africa by opting for a bush walk where you get the chance to see the smaller detail of Samburu!

THE CAMP IS UNFENCED AND LOCATED IN A VERY WILD AREA WITH ELEPHANTS WALKING THROUGH THE CAMP DURING THE DAY AND NIGHT
