KICHECHE VALLEY CAMP - NABOISHO CONSERVANCY - MASAI MARA
Kicheche Valley is located in acacia woodlands in a secluded valley of the Naboisho Conservancy and is an intimate luxury tented camp. The six luxurious tents, built in a unique style incorporating high eco-standards, are set on platforms and provide the perfect base to see the stunning wildlife and wilderness. Camp hosts offer a personal touch to this small tented camp and the location offers a quiter safari experience with superb wildlife.
Kicheche Valley Camp is located in the Naboisho Conservancy outside the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya.
There are just 6 octagonal shaped tents set on wooden platforms which are well spaced for privacy. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with running solar heated water. The tents are very spacious and beautifully furnished and each has a stunning view over the bush charging facilities.
There is a central dining area and comfortable lounge well equipped with books and a small shop and fresh water dispensers in all the tents and communal areas.
Game drives - early morning and late afternoon are the best hours for game drives and our safari customised 4WD vehicles give everyone the chance to watch wildlife at close range, but without encroaching on their space. Picnic breakfasts, lunches and sundowner drinks are popular options to include on game drives
Game walk – a different perspective is gained through escorted walks on the savannah. Safety is paramount when leaving camp on foot so all walks are escorted by an armed ranger. Our interpretive guides will point out the spoor of a leopard, the nest of a rare bird or signs of recent migration activity.
Maasai Village visit - you can visit one of the local Maasai villages to see first-hand their way of life. A village guide or your Kicheche guide will give you an interpretive talk during your visit during which there may be some traditional dancing. Village made souvenirs are on sale. There is an extra charge for this visit.
Hot Air Ballooning – balloons take off early each morning at sunrise and glide over the plains for approximately an hour before landing. On touchdown a champagne breakfast is set up before you and the excursion finishes with a game drive back to camp. There is an extra charge and we recommend booking early.
Wild Camping - Kicheche offers escorted walking safaris with overnight stays in a fly-camp in the bush. These walks are led by one of Kicheche’s senior guides and an armed ranger. It is an outstanding opportunity to see the Mara from a completely different angle and also offers some welcome exercise whilst on safari. You will explore the smaller aspects of savannah life – birds, grasses, and insects – and may even be lucky enough to encounter some larger game too.
Community Trust Projects - Kicheche’s Community Project and Naboisho support a number of schools and projects in the greater area and it is usually possible to visit to them. Any educational gifts or donations that you can contribute are an enormous help to the pupils. The Koiyaki Guiding school is within Naboisho and the camp sponsors two of the students each year and currently employ many graduates as guides and trainee guides.
KICHECHE VALLEY CAMP IS CLOSED FROM THE 9TH APRIL TO THE END OF MAY EVERY YEAR
THE CAMP IS UNFENCED AND QUITE WILD AND WE RECOMMEND THAT THE CAMP IS SUITABLE FOR THOSE OVER 11 YEARS OF AGE AND OVER. WALKING SAFARIS ARE RESTRICTED TO CHILDREN 12 YEARS AND OLDER.
