Engagi Lodge – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Engagi Lodge is a welcoming eco-lodge located on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, offering spectacular views over the rainforest canopy and the Munyaga River valley. Accommodation
The lodge features eight en-suite cottages, built from local stone and timber with thatched roofs to blend harmoniously with the environment. Each cottage has a spacious bedroom, modern bathroom facilities with hot and cold running water, and a private veranda overlooking the forest. With capacity for only around sixteen guests, Engagi Lodge maintains an intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
The Experience
Engagi Lodge is ideally situated for gorilla trekking in Bwindi, with the trailhead at Buhoma just minutes away. Guests can also enjoy guided walks along the Munyaga River, birdwatching in the surrounding forest, and cultural visits to nearby villages to learn about local traditions. Back at the lodge, the open-plan main building with its large dining and lounge areas provides a comfortable place to relax, while the elevated deck offers panoramic forest views. Evenings are often spent around the fireplace, sharing stories of the day’s encounters.

Engagi Lodge sits on private land directly bordering Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and home to nearly half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Its position ensures both tranquillity and easy access to the park’s activities, making it an ideal base for exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Good to Know
Engagi Lodge can be reached by scheduled flight from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip followed by a short transfer, or by road through Uganda’s scenic landscapes. The lodge is open all year and is a comfortable and convenient base for gorilla trekking adventures in Bwindi.
