Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge is an exclusive eco-lodge set on the southern banks of the River Nile, offering spectacular views over one of Africa’s most iconic waterways. Designed with an emphasis on luxury, tranquillity, and sustainability, the lodge is an intimate retreat for travellers seeking to combine adventure with relaxation in the heart of Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park.

Location

Perfectly positioned on a private concession, Nile Safari Lodge overlooks the Albert Nile as it flows majestically through Murchison Falls National Park. The setting provides an unparalleled vantage point for sunsets over the river and direct access to the park’s diverse ecosystems. Just a short drive or boat trip away are the thunderous Murchison Falls, where the Nile dramatically squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging into the valley below.

Accommodation

With only eight luxurious bandas, Nile Safari Lodge offers guests an intimate and highly personalised experience. Each banda has been crafted from locally sourced materials and designed to blend harmoniously with the natural environment while still providing exceptional comfort. Private decks look out across the river, and many bandas include plunge pools for added indulgence. Interiors feature king-sized beds, spacious living areas, and both indoor and outdoor showers. For families or small groups, the lodge’s Family Villa provides an elegant and spacious option, while honeymooners will delight in a secluded suite designed for romance and privacy.

Experience

Guests at Nile Safari Lodge are invited to discover the wonders of Murchison Falls National Park through a carefully curated selection of experiences. Game drives take you across the sweeping northern plains, where elephants, giraffes, buffalo and lions roam. The Nile itself provides opportunities for unforgettable boat safaris – either to the base of the falls for a close-up encounter with their raw power, or downstream to the delta in search of the rare shoebill stork. Guided walks with experienced rangers reveal the smaller details of the bush, from tracks and insects to medicinal plants, while birdwatchers can delight in the more than 450 species recorded in the park. Back at the lodge, the infinity pool, spa treatments, and yoga sessions offer moments of relaxation surrounded by the sights and sounds of the river.

Conservation and Community

Nile Safari Lodge was created with sustainability at its heart. The lodge is powered primarily by solar energy and has been constructed with a light environmental footprint. By sourcing food and materials locally, the lodge supports neighbouring communities while also reducing its ecological impact. Employment and training opportunities are provided for local people, and guests who choose to stay here contribute directly to conservation initiatives and community projects in the region.

Practical Information

The lodge is accessible either by a short flight to Pakuba or Bugungu airstrips followed by a scenic transfer, or by road from Kampala in approximately five to six hours. With just eight bandas, Nile Safari Lodge provides an exclusive base for exploring Murchison Falls National Park – a destination where dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife, and the timeless beauty of the River Nile combine to create an unforgettable safari experience.
