Fumba beach peninsula is both a large marine haven and an eco-project. The essence of Fumba is privacy, relaxation, serenity, excellence and attention to detail.
Just 30 minutes from Stone Town the lodge is away from busy tourist areas, offering a perfect venue for enjoying tranquility and the space to dream, swim, dive and walk amongst tropical gardens.
Next to Fumba Lodge is the Fumba Village - the villagers helped build the lodge. Some villagers are still employed by the lodge and guests can ask at reception to be shown around the village.
Fumba Lodge has a football team which regularly plays friendly games with the villagers. The lodge provides support to the local schools and small businesses and contributes to the village by employing and training the local people.
Set in forty acres of tropical forest and secluded protected beaches nestle 26 spacious ensuite rooms. All the rooms have king size beds, mosquito nets, fans, top-quality imported bed linen and quilts for the very occasional chilly nights.
20 large, light rooms have an ensuite bathroom, fans and an ocean view
The four luxury suites have a bath, a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired outside shower overlooking the ocean with direct access to the beach and private roof terrace
For the ultimate extravagance, spoil yourself in one of the two lodgings built around a 300 year old baobab tree with bathrooms open to the elements with direct access to the beach.
Meals are created using the freshest ingredients: fresh herbs, lemongrass, ginger, garlic, cauliflower, courgettes, aubergines, carrots and sun ripened succulent tomatoes.
All herbs and vegetables are grown in the vegetable garden and the island produces sweet, ripe tropical fruits: mangos, bananas, coconuts, jackfruits, passion fruit and oranges.
Right on the doorstep of the lodge and from the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the local fisherman catch tunas, snappers, barracudas, lobsters, prawns and crabs daily.
The Spa at Fumba provides a wide range of beauty treatments and massages: Swedish, therapeutic, aromatherapy and Zanzibari scrubs. The treatments are made with natural ingredients from the exotic spices and flowers of the island; frangipani, cinnamon, vanilla, cloves and sea salt.
