ISLAND TREEHOUSE SUITES AND STARBED TREEHOUSE SUITES - VICTORIA FALLS

Part of the Victoria Falls River Lodge, Island Treehouse Suites and Starbed Treehouse Suites are set apart on a private Island and are perfect for guests looking for a highly exclusive experience. Sheltered within shady recesses of the private Kandahar Island the Island Treehouse Suites are positioned to enjoy spectacular views of the Zambezi River.

Kandahar Island is reached by boat from the mainland ensuring a completely exclusive and private experience.  The spacious open plan suites jut out over river with elevated timber decks and glass windows and doors offering a natural flow from the luxurious comfort of the indoors to the natural beauty of the outdoors.  Two magnificent double storey Starbed Treehouses are set on open air Starbed decks with the bedroom and sitting area suspended above the treetops offering stunning views of the river.

The best way to experience the Zambezi National Park is on game drives and on foot on a guided bush walk and there are several picnic sites along the Zambezi River you can enjoy fishing for bream and tiger fish.  

LOCATION

Island Treehouse Suites and Starbed Treehouse Suites are set in the Zambezi National Park just a few kms outside Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe.  Access is via a 30 minute road transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport.

LODGE

There are just 4 Island Treehouse suites and 2 Starbed Treehouse Suites all with a climate control air-conditioning, a private deck, plunge pool and personal butler service.

The suites have elegantly appointed bedrooms and sitting areas with open plan ensuite bathroom featuring rain showers, a freestanding bathtub, a spacious vanity area and private WC.  The suites have a complimentary mini bar, Nespresso coffee machine, tea making facilities and little comforts include robes and slippers. International plugs and/or adapters and WIFI are available in all the suites.

The two double storey Starbed Treehouses are set on open air Starbed decks with the bedroom and sitting area suspended above the treetops.  In addition to the luxury features of the Island Treehouses, the Starbed Treehouses have a unique rooftop sitting area which includes a starbed – perfect for a romantic night under the stars!

Raised walkways connect Treehouse Suites to main guest areas which are set among the trees on the banks of the private Kandahar Island and encircled by the Zambezi River.  The spacious lounge and dining areas are designed for comfort and relaxation and there is a sunset Bar area with river views.

The lodge is only accessible by boat and the minimum age to stay on the island is 16 years and older.      

ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE

The Zambezi National Park in Zimbabwe is a 56 000ha game reserve a few kms upstream from the Victoria Falls.  Game drives in the park follow extensive networks of roads along the river which are accessible and controlled through the main gate of the Park. There are also a several picnic sites along the Zambezi River where you can fish from as well.

Most of the Zambezi National Park consists of Mopane Woodland with a thin strip of Riverine Bush along the edge of the river. A wide variety of larger mammals may be found within the Zambezi National Park including elephant, lion, buffalo and leopard. In addition, herds of sable antelope, eland, zebra, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck and impala, as well as many of the smaller species of game, can be viewed.  The Zambezi River is also home to over 75 species of fish and is famous for its bream and fighting tiger fish.

Morning and Afternoon Game Drives - join your Guide and head out to explore the 150,000 acres that make up the Zambezi National Park.

Sunrise and Sunset River Cruise - a relaxing voyage on one of the Victoria Falls River Lodge luxury river cruisers is a wonderful way to soak in the magnificence of the iconic Zambezi River and its surrounds.

Guided Tour of the Falls - join your guide who has a detailed knowledge of the local fauna and flora and other points of historical interest on an unforgettable tour of Victoria Falls.

Bird Watching - the Zambezi National Park is a bird watcher’s paradise and birding enthusiasts will be able to view a great diversity of birds within rain forest, riverine, gorge and savannah habitats around the falls and at the lodge.

Local species include rock pratincole, Schalow’s turaco, African finfoot, half collared kingfisher, thick billed weaver, African skimmer, Pels fishing owl, collared palm thrush and western banded snake eagle (to name but a few).

Guided Bush Walks - experience the African bush on foot and accompanied by an expert Guide and enjoy the opportunity to get a little closer to some of the Zambezi National Park's resident wildlife. (Optional activity - available at an additional charge). 

Fishing - the Upper Zambezi is home to a wide variety of fish species and half-day guided fishing trips leave directly from the Lodge. Tiger fishing is a highlight and a unique experience. Fishing from the jetty is also an option.  (Optional activity - available at an additional charge).
