OLD DRIFT LODGE – ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK – VICTORIA FALLS
Old Drift Lodge is located 7km upstream from the Victoria Falls and is set in the Zambezi National Park on a pristine piece of land on the banks of the Zambezi River. The natural beauty of the park is sprawled over 56 000 hectares.
The family friendly lodge has just 10 beautifully furnished suites and 4 family suites and the main lodge area enjoys 360-degree views north facing onto the Zambezi and south facing onto a water hole. Only 4.5 kilometres from the town of Victoria Falls, the lodge is the closest within the National Park to town.
The activities offered at Old Drift Lodge emphasise the rich natural environment around the lodge and focus on the abundance of wildlife in the park and on the river. The Zambezi National Park can be explored by road, river or on foot with professional guides. Or simply relax and enjoy the facilities of the lodge!
LOCATION
Old Drift Lodge is located in the Zambezi National Park on the banks of the Zambezi River close to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Access is via Victoria Falls International Airport which is around 5km transfer.
LODGE
Old Drift Lodge offers family friendly accommodation with 14 luxury suites including 4 two bedroomed family suites. The air-conditioned suites are decorated with stylish furnishings which blend in with the natural environment and comfortable beds with mosquito nets, a private lounge, a sleepout deck, both indoor and outdoor showers, a plunge pool and an outdoor bathtub overlooking the Zambezi.
The Family Suites consist of two inter-leading bedrooms each with its own private ensuite facilities.
The main area has stunning views over the Zambezi River and is open at the front with expansive floating wooden decking housing a sunken firepit and safari chairs and a star gazing deck. There are comfortable seating areas in the lounge with sofas, coffee tables and deep cushions and an indoors dining area – all under canvas with wonderful views. WIFI is available throughout the lodge.
The Old Drift Lodge chefs are dedicated to creating a fine dining experience and the flavour of each dish is enriched using fresh seasonal ingredients and herbs grown in the camp’s gardens.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE
Guided Tour of the Falls – Zimbabwe (Excluding Rainforest Entry Fees) – guided tour of the Victoria Falls situated 7km from Old Drift Lodge is included in the nightly rate but excludes park fees which are payable direct. This excursion can be booked in conjunction with a lunch at the Lookout Café.
Morning and Afternoon Game Drives – morning and afternoon game drives in 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles will take you along the Zambezi River through the Zambezi National Park with the chance of seeing elephant, buffalo, kudu, giraffe, zebra, eland, impala, warthogs, lion, wild dog and on occasions, cheetah. Tea baskets and snacks will be taken on the morning drives and sundowners and snacks on the afternoon game drives.
Morning and Afternoon River Safari – the lodge has two luxury 10 seater pontoon boats which will be used for morning and afternoon river safaris. Drinks and snacks will be provided on both safaris.
Walking Safaris – morning and afternoon walking safaris will take place along the river but also in the spring lines of Zambezi National Park. Guests will be accompanied by a professional Guide. Please note that children under 16 years are not permitted on walking safaris.
Lunch at the Lookout Cafe – Including drinks – you have the option to enjoy a lunch at the Lookout Café inclusive of drinks. This can be booked in conjunction with the Tour of the Falls or once you have taken part in any of the high wire activities that take place at the Lookout.
