THE BISHOPS HOUSE – MUSANZE – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

The Bishop’s House is located in the Northern Province of Rwanda in a town called Musanze – the gateway to the Volcanoes National Park which is home to the mountain gorilla and the golden monkey. The House is a 25 minute drive away from the park headquarters and its location in the quiet suburbs of Musanze makes the house perfect to explore the Volcanoes National Park, Musanze Caves and the many attractions nearby and in the town.

The Bishops House is styled on colonial style architecture and furnishings and has nine luxuriously decorated rooms. The House is a haven of tranquility surrounded by flora and fauna and the rooms are furnished with large, antique hand crafted four-poster beds and stunning soft furnishings.

The house aims to offer luxurious accommodation in a town setting – the drive to the National Park Headquarters is longer than most lodges and hotels in the area but the bonus is a more comfortable price and having Musanze town right on your doorstep.

LOCATION

The Bishops House is located in Musanze in Rwanda’s Northern Province.  Access is via a road transfer from Kigali which takes around 2.5 hours.

The house has just 9 rooms:

The Executive Suite’s private balcony has a panoramic view of the volcanic mountains and lush gardens.  The suite has an antique handcrafted king size bed, a living area and a vanity room fitted with wall-to-wall wardrobes which open into the luxurious bathroom with bath and shower facilities alongside his and hers sinks, warm velvety bathrobes. Facilities in the room include a fully equipped with a well-stocked minibar, a kettle for hot beverages, flat screen TV with DSTV, telephone, digital safety deposit box and hairdryer. All rooms including the public spaces have WIFI.

Guests booking the Deluxe Rooms at The Bishop’s House are welcomed with a complimentary fruit basket and a bottle of house wine on arrival. The rooms are elegantly decorated with a sitting area that stretches into the serene gardens – these rooms are ideal for a longer stay with rooms equipped with a well-stocked minibar, kettle for hot beverages, flat screen TV with DSTV, telephone and a digital safety deposit box. The luxury bathrooms have his and her sinks and hairdryers. All rooms including the public spaces have WIFI.

The Bishop’s House has five Superior Double rooms with king sized handcrafted antique beds draped with mosquito nets. The rooms are well furnished and are equipped with a well-stocked minibar, kettle for hot beverages, flat screen TV with DSTV, telephone, a digital safety deposit box and hairdryers.  All rooms including the public spaces have WIFI. The House has one superior twin fitted with single beds and individual mosquito nets. This room is ideal for families as it connects to an adjacent superior double room and enjoys the same facilities.

Enjoy African, American and Asian cuisine from the Table d’hote menu. The Bishop’s House restaurant opens every day at 0530 for breakfast, the five course menu table d’hote lunch is served from 1230 and the six course dinner menu is served from 1930.

ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE

Gorilla and golden monkey tracking are the prime attractions, but you can also visit Dian Fossey’s Tomb, hike Karisibi Volcano (3,800m), enjoy a day visit to the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo, visit the caves at Musanze and the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, enjoy an evening cultural talk with the naturalist or an evening guided walk to the village and Musanze town.
