One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is set against the historic volcanic mountains of Volcanoes National Park – the first national park in Africa and home to endangered mountain gorillas. This is a place that has fostered a spirit of love and protection over the years, most notably from renowned primatologist Dian Fossey.

The lodge has just 21 guest lodges and suites scattered around the forest brimming with eucalyptus trees and flowers.  Sample fresh seasonal cuisine at the Nest Restaurant, sample the flavours of the garden that infuse fresh lemonades, cocktails and teas at the Nest bar.  Work out in the fitness centre and enjoy yoga, pilates and meditation sessions and relax at the infinity pool or spa after your gorilla trek.

Gorilla’s Nest is the closest resort to Volcanoes National Park – a historic rainforest home to a diverse tapestry of wildlife, including over 340 mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and 300 bird species. A huge range of complementary activities are available to enhance your stay.

One&Only Gorilla’s Nest is set close to the Volcanoes National Park in the north west of Rwanda.  Access is either by road transfer which takes around 2.5 hours or helicopter flight which takes around 25 minutes.

At Gorilla’s Nest there is an ecosystem that connects the resort with the local areas of Kinigi and Musanze – mainly through buying locally and employing local people at the lodge.  Regular visits and donations are made to local schools and you can purchase Imigongo art from local tradespeople.

The seasonal dishes crafted in the kitchens are part of a rich eco-conscious cycle and delicious local coffee benefits from pesticide free growth.  Any unused ingredients are returned to Musanze where they are used in fertilizer to grow produce which is then sold back to the Gorilla’s Nest culinary team.
