SINGITA KATAZA HOUSE – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – NORTHWEST RWANDA

Singita Kataza House is set within a landscape of wetlands and lush meadows with magnificent views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes. This luxuriously modern African home features individual pavilions grouped around a central cluster of living spaces with self-contained bedroom suites, accessed via landscaped forest walkways.

Designed around local materials, the use of volcanic rock, river stone, handmade ceramic tiles and oven-red clay bricks made by surrounding communities connect the villa to the landscape and its culture. These influences are interpreted in a contemporary style and entirely unique architectural layout.

Mountain bamboo, ferns, giant lobelias and forest trees provide a natural backdrop that over time will engulf the buildings and reclaim them back into the forest. Dramatic stone walls rise out of the volcanic boulders and a combination of green-roofed, stonewalled, organic cabin-like structures set alongside light verandas offers a dynamic play on shape and texture.

Designed for exclusive use you can enjoy relaxed freedom and quality time together in this secluded sanctuary. The villa is serviced with a private chef and host, and amenities include exquisite open living spaces, indoor and outdoor replaces, pools, a gym and media room. Guests are also able to access all facilities of the nearby Singita Kwitonda Lodge including its impressive onsite garden and nursery.

Singita Kataza House gives you the opportunity to encounter mountain gorillas in the wild whilst enjoying time with friends and family in a luxurious environment.

LOCATION

Singita Kataza shares a 12km border with Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda.  International flights arrive at Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali.  The drive from Kigali to Kataza House is approximately two and a half hours by road. Alternatively, helicopter transfers are available from Kigali to the villa.

HOUSE

There are just 4 suites at Kataza House – a Master Suite, a Junior Master Suite and 2 Suites.  There is also a two bedroomed staff residence.

The interiors have been carefully curated with a focus on handcrafted details. By layering texture and colour and introducing detail through artisanal and handmade pieces like woven panels, handmade tiles, and clay feature pots, the spaces are both reflective and interactive.

While completely private the villa is set alongside Singita Kwitonda Lodge. Guests at Kataza House enjoy access to all facilities and amenities at the lodge which offers additional spaces for relaxing, entertaining and dining.

All of the suites have uninterrupted views of the mountainous forested national park. The suites have been designed as a luxurious refuge for post-trek relaxation with a cosy sitting area warmed by a fireplace. Thoughtful in-room conveniences include a well-stocked pantry and minibar and a private dining space.

The king or twin bedrooms have a rest area, dressing room with double vanity, and a spacious bathroom with a bath, separate toilet, indoor shower and glass-enclosed outdoor shower. Outside there is a private terrace with a fireplace and heated plunge pool.
