SINGITA KWITONDA LODGE – VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Boasting amazing views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes and surrounded by high-altitude forests, Singita Kwitonda Lodge offers a luxurious base to trek to see the gorillas and golden monkeys in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

With its exceptional natural beauty, environmentally conscious luxury and transformative, purpose-driven experiences, the lodge was designed to be in tune with its remarkable location.  The eight contemporary suites are linked by volcanic rock pathways to the central lodge.

Designed around local materials, the use of volcanic rock, river stone, handmade ceramic tiles and oven-red clay bricks made by surrounding communities connect the villa to the landscape and its culture.  The interiors emphasise local design, handcrafted details and layered textures and colours enhance the reflective quality of this tranquil haven.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge gives you the opportunity to encounter mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in the wild whilst enjoying a luxurious and interactive environment.

LOCATION

Singita Kwitonda shares a 12km border with Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda.  International flights arrive at Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali.  The drive from Kigali to Kwitonda is approximately two and a half hours by road. Alternatively, helicopter transfers are available from Kigali to the lodge.

LODGE

The interiors have been carefully curated with a focus on handcrafted details. By layering texture and colour and introducing detail through artisanal and handmade pieces like woven panels, handmade tiles, and clay feature pots, the spaces are both reflective and interactive.

All of the suites have uninterrupted views of the mountainous forested national park. The suites have been designed as a luxurious refuge for post-trek relaxation with a cosy sitting area warmed by a fireplace. Thoughtful in-room conveniences include a well-stocked pantry and minibar and a private dining space.

The king or twin bedrooms have a rest area, dressing room with double vanity, and a spacious bathroom with a bath, separate toilet, indoor shower and glass-enclosed outdoor shower. Outside there is a private terrace with a fireplace and heated plunge pool.

A central hub with beautiful indoor and outdoor living spaces serves as the heart of Singita Kwitonda Lodge. This space forms an experiential enclave with lounges, dining areas, an outdoor fire pit, an interactive kitchen, bar deli and a wine cellar for guests to enjoy. The private, self-contained bedroom suites lead off of the main lodge via a network of volcanic rock pathways.
