&BEYOND SANDIBE OKAVANGO SAFARI LODGE – OKAVANGO DELTA

Sandibe Lodge is a luxurious and uniquely constucted lodge set on a waterway within a diverse wildlife-rich, private concession of the Okavango Delta.  The lodge has exclusive traversing rights over a vast 22,500 hectares (55,600 acres) of wildlife land bordering the Moremi Game Reserve and is on the eastern side of the Okavango Delta.

Drawing its inspiration from nature, &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge features stunning architecture that is serene, earthy and organic.  Twelve elegant suites are elevated above the landscape and feature private plunge pools on expansive wooden decks with magnificent Delta views.  Inside the rooms have large comfortable beds, cosy fireplaces and secluded areas.

An interactive kitchen creates delicious meals and a beautifully situated massage sala offers a selection of relaxing massages.

LOCATION

&Beyond Sandibe is located in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana.  Access is via a scheduled charter flight to Chitabe airstrip within the Okavango Delta followed by an hour game drive transfer to the lodge

CAMP

The inspired organic design of the lodge melts into the surrounding forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled fig trees. Trees will shade you as you approach the lodge; an intriguing curl and sweep of shingled wood comes into view resembling a giant scaled pangolin at rest.

Stairs open onto the high ceilings of the copper-toned and glassless guest area overlooking the Delta. From this central dining area the wooden deck stretches beyond the roof and the upstairs bar and lounge extend along an elevated walkway to a viewing platform.

A series of decks descend to the forest floor leading to a log boma with a small gym and private massage sala close by.

Interior finishes throughout showcase the craftsmanship of Botswana’s artisans, and feature intricate basketware, sculpted wooden tables and unique feature pieces.

While the main guest area is set within the forest, the twelve air conditioned guest suites are set beneath its canopy. Raised above the papyrus-lined banks like golden weaver nests each suite is a cocoon of privacy with gorgeous views, a private plunge pool and cosy fireplace.  The rooms are ensuite and have both indoor and outdoor showers.

ACTIVITIES

A maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands teeming with wildlife – Botswana’s Okavango Delta lies like a sparkling jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Known as the river that never finds the sea, the Delta’s crystal-clear channels spread over the Kalahari with their papyrus-fringed banks and fertile floating islands. Adapted for a life in and out of water, the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga are found in this watery wilderness. Lion, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog share the floodplains with large herds of elephant and buffalo.

Hippo inhabit the deeper channels and lagoons while honeybadgers can be seen in broad daylight. Tall termite mounds are homes for families of dwarf and banded mongoose.

Game Drives – enjoy the best game viewing in the Delta: safari vehicle enhancements include bucket seats, customisable seat configurations, padded roll bars, charging points for cameras and equipment, strip lights in the bin of the vehicles, camera bean bags on clamps, and a cooling canvas covered roof.

Guided Walking Safari – discover a multitude of natural wonders in the company of your experienced safari guide. Tread in the tracks of the Delta wildlife, breathe in the scent of crushed wild grasses and feel your senses come alive.

THE LODGE WELCOMES FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN OF ALL AGES.  

CHILDREN 5 YEARS AND YOUNGER CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN GAME DRIVES OR NATURE WALKS. CHILDREN AGED 6 TO 11 CAN PARTICIPATE IN GAME DRIVES AT THE LODGE MANAGER’S DISCRETION.  CHILDREN AGED 12 AND OVER CAN PARTICIPATE IN GAME DRIVES AND CHILDREN AGED 16 AND OVER CAN PARTICIPATE IN NATURE WALKS
