KIRI CAMP – OKAVANGO DELTA
Machaba’s Kiri Camp is based in the same concession as Gomoti Plains Camp, situated on the western side of the private concession. This brand new Okavango Delta camp will open in June 2022 and is set in a unique area where the seasonal inundation of water from the annual flood creates vast floodplains of shallow water which are perfect for a tranquil mokoro ride. Other activities include boating, game drives and nature walks.
LOCATION
The camp is set in a private community concession in the southeast of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. The camp is a 15 – 20 minute light aircraft flight from Maun.
CAMP
The camp is situated on the Kiri River, under a canopy of large Jackalberry trees. All the luxury tents are raised on decks offering privacy, comfort, and wonderful views of the Kiri plains. The camp has 8 luxury double tents and 2 luxury family tents. Walkways to the tents are along natural pathways.
WILDLIFE AND ACTIVITIES
Kiri Camp offers a combination of both game drives and water activities. Based on a private concession these activities will take you to some of the more remote areas in the delta which were previously inaccessible.
The Kiri River is also navigable by motor boats providing spectacular game viewing from the river. Walking and driving is permitted on the islands and when the floods recede.
Glide on quiet mokoro’s through the water lilies and view wildlife from a different perspective as you sit at water level height. The wildlife in the Kiri area is diverse and plentiful, known for its lion and buffalo interactions and rare wild dog numbers.
As Kiri Camp is in a private concession you can enjoy off road and night driving, and nature walks with armed guies through the surrounding palm islands.
