LINYANTI TENTED CAMP – LINYANTI CONCESSION
Linyanti Tented camp is a Wilderness Safaris camp in a stunning setting with the private Linyanti Concession. The camp can be booked solely for families and small groups and has the ideal location for those wishing to experience the wildlife-rich Linyanti Concession. Pedators include lion, wild dog, leopard and hyena.
LOCATION
The camp is set in the Private Linyanti Concession in Lintanti – a hugely diverse wildlife area that is an important elephant corridor.
CAMP
Unrivalled in its remoteness and sense of space the camp overlooks the iconic marsh and floodplain with its four large, airy and en-suite tents designed to recreate the style of the early explorers. Built on a slightly raised deck with impressive views, the main area of camp is the perfect place from which to watch wildlife and to relax. Evenings are spent around the camp fire under the stars or in the traditional boma.
Linyanti Tented Camp works closely with local government bodies to ensure the conservation of wildlife in the area through dedicated research focused on IUCN Red List species such as the African wild dog, elephant, lion and roan antelope.
The camp can only be booked on a sole-use basis and for a minimum of two nights.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE
Given its location on the Linyanti Marsh and easy access to a combination of habitats, floodplains, open dry-land savannah and woodland, the area is a magnet for big game and birdlife. Well-known for its huge elephant concentrations as they congregate along the waterways during the dry winter months, the area is also renowned for general wildlife including specials such as roan and sable. Predator sightings may include lion, leopard, wild dog and spotted hyaena.
Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, walking safaris where you can discover many of the smaller creatures in the bush often missed while travelling by vehicle and the opportunity to photograph wildlife from the nearby log-pile hide. The log-pile hide is a wonderful way to watch wildlife – especially in the dry season when large numbers of elephants move through the area.
GIVING BACK
Linyanti Tented Camp’s purpose is to preserve the original spirit of safari, and extend the positive effects of ecotourism into more remote areas. It also supports several research projects to ensure the protection of the area’s wildlife.
Conservation Projects – the camp works closely with local authorities to ensure the conservation of wildlife in the area. It supports dedicated conservation and research focused on species on the IUCN Red List such as the African wild dog, elephant, lion and roan antelope.
