Canyon Village – Desert Stone Cottages Beneath Towering Cliffs
Canyon Village captures the spirit of the south in a setting that is as photogenic as it is peaceful. Tucked beneath towering granite cliffs, this welcoming lodge offers panoramic desert views, warm Namibian hospitality, and a deep connection to the cultural heritage of the region.
Location
Just 20 kilometres from the Fish River Canyon, Canyon Village is situated within the Gondwana Canyon Park. The lodge is surrounded by dramatic rock formations, golden plains, and distant mountain silhouettes, providing the perfect base for canyon exploration and photography.
The Lodge
The lodge consists of 42 stone-and-thatch cottages, all en-suite and built into the base of the granite cliffs. Murals inside each room depict scenes from Nama culture, while large windows allow the desert colours to pour in. The main building includes a cosy restaurant, fire-lit bar, and outdoor terrace overlooking the vast landscape. A sparkling swimming pool nestles beneath palms and aloes, offering a refreshing dip with a view.
Experiences
Canyon Village offers guided excursions to the Fish River Canyon as well as scenic drives, sundowner trips, and walking trails through the Gondwana Canyon Park. The nearby Quiver Tree Forest and local geological sites add to the attraction. Guests are also invited to learn about Nama heritage, rock art, and the area’s conservation transformation—from farmland back to wilderness—through the efforts of the Gondwana Collection.

Open all year. Suitable for families, couples, and groups. Full-board and activity packages available. Ideal visiting months: April to September for clear skies and canyon trekking. The lodge plays a role in Gondwana’s environmental restoration and supports local employment and education initiatives in southern Namibia.
