HAKUSEMBE RIVER LODGE – RUNDU – KAVANGO
Hakusembe River Lodge is a lush green oasis perched right on the banks of the Okavango River around 16km from Rundu in the Kavango region. The lodge has just 20 thatched chalets set amongst green lawns and large shady trees where you can absorb the peace and watch the river birds from your veranda.
The lodge is a wonderful spot to overnight after a long day’s drive and is ideally located for a night or two stay when driving from Etosha to the Caprivi Strip, Victoria Falls and the Zambezi area offering comfortable accommodation and a lovely swimming pool in the luxuriant garden right next to the river.
If you have the energy, you can take a stroll to the Mbunza cultural village closeby or hop aboard the Hakusembe River Queen for an evening sundowner river cruise or enjoy some fishing and birding.
LOCATION
Hakusembe River Lodge is located 16 km west of Rundu on the B10 (Okavango) in the Kavango region of northern Namibia.
Access is by self-drive and the lodge is around 4 hours’ drive from Etosha National Park, 7 hours from Kasane in Botswana and 8.5 hours from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
LODGE
The lodge has a choice of accommodation with outside verandas:
Triple Bungalow – 12 rooms offer ensuite bathroom with a shower, mosquito nets, air conditioning, coffee/tea station, minibar, room safe for valuables – overlooking the Okavango River.
Twin Bungalow – 6 rooms offer ensuite bathroom with shower, mosquito nets, air conditioning, coffee/tea station, minibar, room safe for valuables – overlooking the Okavango River.
Family Bungalow with 5 beds – 1 room offers ensuite bathroom with shower, mosquito nets, air conditioning, coffee/tea station, minibar, room safe for valuables – overlooking the Okavango River. Furnished with 1 double, 3 single beds especially for families.
Family Bungalow with 7 beds – 1 room – this family bungalow is on the banks of the Okavango River and has 2 double rooms, a loft with 2 beds, 2 bathrooms with showers. Facilities include air conditioning and room safe for valuables.
1 room is suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
The main area has a restaurant, bar, curio shop and a swimming pool. There is WIFI at the reception and limited mobile connectivity. The lodge has secure car parking.
ACTIVITIES
Sunset Champagne Cruise – experience the water-world of the Kavango on a romantic boat trip as the sun goes down; incl. ½ bottle of champagne per person.
Birding – from your chalet or around the lodge grounds
