LOCATION
&Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas is made up of two camps located in five different sites in the Serengeti whilst following the migration in northern Tanzania.
CAMP
Serengeti Under Canvas has nine spacious safari tents each with a double bed, ensuite bathroom, separate wc and al fresco bucket shower, custom-made Indian rugs, crisp linens, sparkling crystal and polished brass.
There are two family tents – each can cater for a family of two adults and two children from the age of six. Each tent has its own sitting area in front of the tent and its own bathroom with hot bucket shower (double shower in both tents). The layout of the family tent offers one tent being spacious and one tent being slightly smaller.
Children visiting the camp can take advantage of the fun-filled and interactive WILDChild programme that offers various activities such as (and amongst many) tracking animal footprints with a guide, joining a mouth-watering pizza party, making a fire the Maasai way, playing soccer with the staff and for older children, spear throwing or shooting bows and arrows.
The guest areas include a lounge and dining tent which are furnished with deep sofas and African artifacts. Relax under the night sky and enjoy the camp cuisine served on sparkling crystal and silver that reflects the twinkling light of millions of shining stars. Cluster around a roaring campfire to share stories of the day’s magic and listen to the African night come alive.
ACTIVITIES
Game drives – are included and are tailored to suit your preference with a choice of shorter twice-daily drives or one long all-day game drive with a stop for a picnic lunch. The annual movements of the camps are carefully planned to anticipate the progress of the migration – when the migration herds are not within easy reach the camps remain in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the Serengeti with game drives setting off in search of the exceptional resident game. As you may be spending most of the day on the move the safari vehicles are closed with roll-down canvas windows and pop-top roofs. Game drives are conducted in the Serengeti National Park – so off-roading and night drives are not permitted.
