ELEWANA SERENGETI MIGRATION CAMP

Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp is a comfortable tented camp in the north of the Serengeti.  Perched next to the Grumeti River where you can fall asleep to the sound of hippo the camp is perfectly positioned to enjoy the migration from late June to September.

LOCATION

The camp is located next to the famous Grumeti River in the northern Serengeti National Park.

CAMP

Hidden among the rocky outcrops the tented camp has 20 luxurious elevated tents each with spacious and richly furnished bedrooms which blend into the natural environment. Each of the tents is surrounded by its own 360-degree veranda deck – sit outside during the day and enjoy the wildlife and the sounds of Africa!  The tents are designed with your comfort in mind with an en suite shower room, flushing toilet, shower and twin vanity basin with hot (solar generated) and cold running water. The rooms have luxurious soft furnishings, a wooden floor, a proper bed, a writing desk and a room fan.

The main 'tent' has a split-level lounge, a swimming pool, restaurant and viewing platforms that offer views across the river and the rugged landscape beyond. The dining experience at Serengeti Migration Camp is on a separate deck overlooking the Ndasiata Hills and the Grumeti River. Dine under canvas or al-fresco under the brilliant African skies.

ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE

Serengeti Migration camp is situated right in the path of the migration but the game viewing is just as good when the migration has gone.  Game viewing is excellent year round and can offer a quieter experience when the migration is elsewhere.  Predators are superb in this area - lions, leopards, cheetah - and you can find great herds of buffalo, smaller families of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.  All three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.

There is more to Serengeti than large mammals - gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite koppies and around 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species ranging from the ostrich and secretary bird found in the open grasslands to the black eagles that soar above the Lobo Hills.

Game Drives – enjoy day-long game drives in the Serengeti.  You can set-off early with a champagne picnic breakfast and stay out all day carrying your picnic lunch with you to allow you more time to enjoy the wildlife.
