LITTLE CHEM CHEM – A PRIVATE CONCESSION BORDERING TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Little Chem Chem is situated on the edge of an acacia forest which lies on the eastern side of a private concession which is adjacent to Tarangire National Park. The camp is surrounded by the characteristic landscape of the Tarangire River with its impressive Baobab trees and overlooks the freshwater Lake Burunge. Little Chem Chem offers safari in an elegant and comfortable tented camp with just 6 tents including a family tent and is all about getting as close to nature as possible, without sacrificing comfort.
LOCATION
The camp is set on the Chem Chem – Burunge Wildlife Management Area adjacent to Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania.
CAMP
Known as the sunrise camp, Little Chem Chem lies on the eastern side of the private Chem Chem concession and has just five elegantly decorated vintage tents plus a family tent. The tents have a large bedroom with king-size or twin beds, with a rocking chair and desk, a vanity area with dressing room, ensuite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower and flushing toilet, Molton Brown toiletries and dressing gowns and slippers.
With an ‘Out-of-Africa’ atmosphere each tent also offers a private fire pit with flames that seduce you as the sounds of an African night come to life all around to you.
The camp also has one Family tent which is a two bedroomed canvas tent which is idea for 2 adults and up to 3 children. The family tent is luxuriously fitted with a large king size bed in the main bedroom and 2 twin beds in the children’s room. Each room has its own vanity area with dressing room and en-suite shower and flushing toilet.
ACTIVITIES
Private Game Drives on the Private Concession – Little Chem Chem includes a private vehicle and guide with every booking (subject to availability). Sundowners on the edge of Lake Burunge – not many activities can beat watching an African sunset. Enjoy the display with sundowners on the edge of Lake Burunge.
Day trips to Tarangire National Park – explore the game-rich environment of the Tarangire National Park from the comfort of an open 4×4. To visit Tarangire choose either a full- or half-day excursion which includes a picnic breakfast or lunch at a private site. Expect vast elephant herds and huge baobabs.
Family Safaris – Little Chem Chem welcomes children from 8 years old. They will create unforgettable memories by learning bush skills from Maasai warriors: how to make a fire, use a bow and arrow, throw a spear. A visit to local schools and villages will expose them to different cultures. Children can build a recyclable soccer ball, follow wildlife tracks and decorate safari-themed cupcakes.
Little Chem Chem Dining – dine in a different location each night. The evening can be as private as you like or more convivial with other guests. Feel the whisper of the evening breeze as you eat beneath the stars.
Big Game & Wildlife Walking – One of the well-trained field guides will lead you in a quest to recognise and track animal spoor.
Hill climb at sunrise – there is a serene beauty to a landscape at dawn. Climb the hills between the Chem Chem Lodge and Little/Forest Chem Chem with your guide.
Hot Air Ballooning – glide over the tops of ancient baobab trees as the sun rises, watch elephant herds, antelope, zebra, lion from a different perspective and enjoy a rustic bush-breakfast after the hour-long flight.

THE CAMP IS FAMILY FRIENDLY – CHILDREN AGED 8 YEARS AND OVER ARE WELCOME AND THE CAMP HAS A FAMILY SUITE. IF THE LODGE IS HIRED EXCLUSIVELY CHILDREN OF ALL AGES ARE WELCOME. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY PARENTS OR GUARDIANS ON ALL SAFARI ACTIVITIES
