MBALI MBALI KATAVI LODGE – KATAVI NATIONAL PARK
Mbali Mbali Lodge sits in the centre of Katavi National Park overlooking the vast plains and offering a comfortable base to experience the vast plains of Katisunga.
The park is well known for its huge herds of buffalo and good predator sightings and is ideal for those looking for a remote experience away from regular tourist routes. In this park you will find animals curious and unfamiliar to human contact.
The lodge has just 10 rooms and the beauty of Katavi and herds of animals can be seen from the lounge area or from your tent. Game viewing is exceptionally rewarding due to the sheer abundance of wildlife and few visitors – currently there are only 3 camps in the park.
LOCATION
The lodge is located in in the Katavi National Park in western Tanzania.
LODGE
All ten rooms are tented canvas on wooden platforms with a thatch roof. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished with comfortable Zanzibari beds, fine linen, writing desks and full ensuite facilities.
The main area is a large wooden structure with a thatched roof and has an expansive wooden deck, open sides to catch the breezes and fabulous views out over the sourounding bush. The lounge area is built on a higher level and is on both sides of the decking offering areas to sit and enjoy the views privately. The lounge areas are furnished with soft armchairs, coffee tabels and interesting African airtifacts. You can enjoy your meals inside or out on the deck overlooking the Katisunga Plains and drinks around the campfie before or after dinner. The lodge has plans for a a swimming pool be be built on a lower deck.
ACTIVITIES
Game drives in 4×4 vehicles concentrate around the woodland areas along the seasonal lakes where most of the game can be found including the big cats – and the flotillas of pelican are a special sight. Game drives are offered twice a day with an optional night game drive.
Game Drives – the camp offers two daily game drives (morning and late afternoon) or a full day game drive on a shared basis. If you would like to book a private vehicle for your group, this is possible at an additional cost per vehicle per day – please ask.
Night Game Drive – are a fantastic way to see the nocturnal wildlife. Book this optional activity at an extra cost – please ask.
MBALI MBALI KATAVI LODGE IS CLOSED MARCH, APRIL AND MAY EVERY YEAR
THE CAMP WELCOMES CHILDREN OF ALL AGES. AS THE LODGE IS VERY REMOTE AND IN A VERY WILD AREA WE RECOMMEND CHILDREN SHOULD BE AGED 10 AND OVER.
