SINGITA MARA RIVER TENTED CAMP – NORTHERN SERENGETI

Situated in the northern most tip of the Serengeti National Park in the Lamai Triangle Singita Mara River Tented Camp offers you the chance to spend time in this stunning yet remote area which has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the Serengeti National Park.

The camp has amazing views of the Mara River was built to have a minimal impact on the environment.  With just 6 luxury tents it is located on a dramatic riverbend in the remote northern Serengeti.

The camp is closed in March and April when there are long rains and the area has superb wildlife throughout the rest of the year. There is prolific game viewing in the Serengeti National Park from June until March with the best months for the migration being July to November.

LOCATION

Singita Mara River Tented Camp is situated in the Lamai Triangle in the northern Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania.  The nearest airstrip is Serengeti Lamai which is 45 minutes drive from camp.

CAMP

The tents have been designed in a bohemian-chic style incorporating lots of light and natural materials.  Features include ensuite outdoor bathrooms with a viewing section in the screen wall to allow for beautiful views from the bathtub.

There are four one bedroomed tents which are river facing with an inside and outside shower, an outside bath and a deck area.

Additionally, there are two family tents – two tents form each family suite and faced the river with an inside and outside shower and an outside bath. The deck area is shared between the two tents on a shared platform and the tents are joined by a short, covered walkway.

All tents are equipped with standing fan, minibar (cooler box), tea/coffee station, safe, bathroom amenities and game-viewing deck.

Singita Mara River Tented Camp consciously seeks to eliminate the unnecessary use of energy and non-biodegradable materials. In keeping with this philosophy it operates off the grid and relies entirely on a custom-designed solar system for its power and the use of recycled and natural materials wherever possible.

Children over the age of 10 years are welcome at the camp and all activities are tailored to specifically suit the interests of each family. In the interest of safety, children may participate in game drives at the discretion of dedicated Field Guides. The camp also offers childminding services, as well as an array of activities to keep little ones engaged and entertained.

The camp’s Mini Rangers Course is a customised, fun-filled programme that opens up a whole new world to young explorers. It includes learning how to track animals; astronomy; bush survival techniques; game, tree, and bird-spotting competitions as well as nature quizzes.

ACTIVITIES

The main activity at this camp is game drives to get closer to the wonderful wildlife in the area.

Game drives – daily game drives with professional guides provide the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africa’s incredible animals.  Game drives are all in Land Cruisers each accommodating a maximum of six guests. The location of Singita Mara River Tented Camp provides excellent opportunities to view the river crossings of the annual wildebeest migration. As the Lamai triangle forms part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem you will experience year-round concentrations of plains game, big cats, elephant and enormous populations of crocodile and hippo in the Mara River.

SINGITA MARA RIVER TENTED CAMP IS CLOSED DURING MARCH AND APRIL EVERY YEAR

THE CAMP IS FAMILY FRIENDLY AND WELCOMES CHILDREN AGED 10 YEARS AND OLDER.  THE CAMP HAS DEDICATED FAMILY ACCOMMODATION AND OFFERS THE MINI RANGERS COURSE FOR CHILDREN.
