PORINI GIRAFFE CAMP – MARA RIPOI CONSERVANCY – MASAI MARA
A superb little camp tucked away in the little known Mara Ripoi Conservancy in the Masai Mara. Just by staying at this camp will mean that you are directly supporting the local community, and all the staff are local Masai from neighbouring towns and villages. This 13,500 acre Kenyan wildlife conservancy is on a parcel of land belonging to a Maasai community who leased it for the purposes of wildlife conservation.
LOCATION
Porini Giraffe Camp is set in the Mara Ripoi Conservancy in the Masai Mara. The camp can be reached from Nairobi by daily scheduled light aircraft flights from Wilson Airport Nairobi to the nearby Naboisho Ol Seki airstrip and it is around an hour’s game drive to the camp.
THE CAMP
Set in a forested area of Camphor bush (African Wild Sage or called Leleshwa in Kenya) and Yellow Bark Acacia along the Ripole River in the Mara Ripoi Conservancy, Porini Giraffe Camp is designed in the style of a traditional safari camp with just 8 guest tents. This little camp offers an intimate experience for a safari in the Maasai Mara in a little known conservancy with superb wildlife away from the crowds – a great alternative to some of the larger lodges and camps in busier areas.
The camp has a dining tent and separate comfortable lounge all located along in a stunning spot along the Ripole river. Each guest tent is comfortably furnished with proper beds, linen and duvets. The en suite bathrooms has a shower, wash basin and flush toilet, the tents are solar powered.
The camp offers a great opportunity to stay at a truly eco-friendly bush camp, run and staffed by local Masai, in a very quiet private conservancy where there are no permanent structures and there is minimal impact on the environment.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE
Shared day and night game drives – shared day and night game drives from the camp are in customised 4×4 safari vehicles with professional safari guides and spotters.
