CAMP HWANGE – HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Camp Hwange is a small and intimate classic safari camp situated in its own private concession deep in the Sinamatella area, situated in the north part of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.

Sister Camp to the smaller Hwange Bushcamp, Camp Hwange is slightly larger with just 7 canvas and thatch chalets and one family suite overlooking the waterhole. The camp has a small photographic hide which will allow you to enjoy a different perspective of the wildlife and great photographic opportunities.

The camp is owned and run by David Carson, a professional Zimbabwe guide with many years of experience. The emphasis is on wildlife and walking safaris and the level of guiding is superb. Other activities offered are 4 x 4 game drives, birdwatching and night drives.

LOCATION

Camp Hwange is located in the north west of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Situated approximately 180 kilometres away from Victoria Falls you can choose between a road or air transfer. The 3 hour journey on a tar road takes you down to the mining town of Hwange before turning off onto the dirt road to the Hwange National Park. Once in the Park it is another 40 kilometres of good game viewing to Sinamatella and Camp Hwange.

Alternatively, you can fly-in from Victoria Falls to Hwange National Airport which takes around 30 minutes, leaving the last 90 kilometres drive to Camp Hwange as per the road transfer.

CAMP

There are 7 canvas and thatch Chalets and 1 family room which are all large and spacious with canvas and gauze sides. Each chalet offers ensuite flush toilets, a shower and wash hand basin. The beds are comfortable and have large mosquito netting and overhead fans and the chalets have their own large surrounding area at ground level with a views of the waterhole.

Hot water, fans and lighting operate on solar power lowering the camp’s environmental footprint and the chalets have charging points for all electronic equipment. Building materials have been chosen to blend in with the surrounding bush.

The main living area is under a large, thatched building with open sides which houses a dining, bar and lounge area with an open air fire pit with incredible view of the stars.

The camp is completely solar powered and 220v electricity through inverter is supplied to all the chalets. All Chalets have a universal bank of adaptors and limited WIFI is available in camp.

Meals are wholesome and include a good selection of meats, vegetables and fruits. The camp can cater for vegetarians or anyone with food allergies with prior notice.
