Situated in the South Luangwa National Park, along the west bank of the Luangwa, the Chikoko Trails Camps are comprised of two private camps: Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp.
Walk from camp to camp in the remote Eastern Zambia following the animal footpaths. Discover the inner workings of the African bush as the expert Remote African Safaris' guides share their experience and wilderness knowledge.
The route follows the well-worn elephant and hippo trails, not to mention the original footsteps of David Livingstone, through the Luangwa Valley.
Here guests - accompanied by an experienced guide, an armed National Park scout and a tea bearer - tread through the African bush alongside the wildlife. It is an experience that is liberating and unforgettable.
Chikoko Tree Camp is situated 8km upstream from Tafika. Here three twin chalets are raised above the ground ensuring that they sit, rather romantically, within the surrounding tree canopies.
The Chikoko Tree Camp's uniquely raised en-suite chalets enhance the views of the spectacular surrounding Acacia grove, the array of wildlife that frequent it and the associated wildlife activity that unfolds throughout the day.
Crocodile River Camp offers three twin chalets that all rest beneath a grove of spectacular Muchenja (Ebony) trees. Each chalet overlooks a dambo and is perfectly situated to enable guests to observe the daily wildlife action as it unfolds.
The Crocodile River Camp chalets are a delightful combination of natural building materials and imaginative architecture. The end result is a simple, comfortable and personal experience for guests.
The two Chikoko Trails Camps are seasonally operated. They open annually from the 25th of May to the 31st of October.
All luggage and supplies are portered into the camps. Safari walks typically last three to fours hours and this includes a welcome mid-morning tea break. Terrain covered is fairly flat but occasionally uneven.
To make the most of the Remote Africa Safaris walking safari adventure it is suggested that guests spend two to three nights at each of the Chikoko Trails Camps - Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp.
