THE SANDS AT NOMAD – DIANI BEACH – KENYA COAST

The Sands at Nomad offers laidback luxury and is situated on the fabulous white shores of Diani Beach.  The hotel is nestled within 26 acres of indigenous coastal forest which catches the cool sea breeze.  Rooms are awash with white walls, vivid ocean blues and Swahili architecture with a contemporary twist.

The lodge offers a range of services and facilities including a relaxing spa retreats, swimming in the stone pool, a gym, yoga and fitness sessions on a dedicated yoga platform and an onsite water sports center.

You can also explore the depths of the Indian Ocean with the Diving the Crab diving center based at The Sands at Nomad, which offers a comprehensive range of PADI certified diving courses for new and experienced divers as well as junior courses for children.

The a la carte menu in the main restaurant overlooking the beach offers guests a superb choice of international cuisine using the finest, freshest ingredients. Our restaurant also offers a special children’s menu. Riva’s Bar and Restaurant, located next to our swimming pool, is exclusive to the lodge’s guests and is an ideal spot to lunch without venturing far from the pool and provides an intimate, candle-lit dining experience by night.

LOCATION

The Sands at Nomad is located on the 25km long dazzlingly white shores of Diani Beach amidst a lush coastal rainforest.  The hotel is situated approximately 45km from Mombasa International Airport and only 2km from shops in Diani.  Diani airport serves flights from around Kenya.

LODGE

All rooms are non-smoking rooms, equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, ceiling fan, electronic safe, mini bar (extra charge), hairdryer, telephone and free WiFi.

In the main building, 10 stylish Sea Breeze rooms all have balconies with stunning sea views. Some of the Sea.  Breeze rooms have interconnecting doors.

The 3 Ocean View Suites are just a few steps away from the beach. The rooms are spacious and have a separate living room and bedroom. The suites offer all standard

amenities including bathrobes, bottled water and a terrace facing the sea.

The 3 Ocean view Family Suites have 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Each room has its own sun beds in a private garden on the seafront.

Three spacious Ocean View Superior suites with stunning views are located on the first floor, just 20 meters from the sandy white beach. The superior suites feature a combined living room and bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower, a separate toilet and a terrace with a hot tub.

Directly on the beach are 6 Beach Cottages with sun loungers in a private garden. The thatched roofed Beach Cottages have a particularly welcoming atmosphere and provide guests with privacy quick access to the beach.

The Superior Beach Cottage Suite is a spacious villa and with a private garden, outdoor shower and jacuzzi ensuring complete peace and quiet.

The villa has a loft-style living and sleeping area, furnished with antique Swahili furniture, and a bathroom with a separate toilet. An elegant staircase leads to a gallery. The large terrace offers uninterrupted views over tropical gardens with private sun beds and two impressive, ancient Baobab trees. Rainwater flows into a mini garden in the center of the suite from a unique feature in the villa’s thatched roof.

Overlooking the pool and the sea in the main part of the hotel are the Colobus Suite and Nomad Superior Suite.  These spacious suites are on the first floor and each boasts a large terrace. The Nomad Superior Suite bathroom features a whirlpool.

The new Family Beach Cottage has been purposely built for families. Occupying a prime position on a private lawn overlooking the sea it’s perfect for watching little ones embrace

crab hunting and sandcastle building.  The cottage consists of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

ACTIVITIES

Scuba diving – the idyllic Indian Ocean provides warm, hospitable waters teeming with marine life. Often on the way to dive sites the boat will slow down to play with a school of friendly dolphins or the gentlest of giants: the whale shark.

Spa and Wellness – the Forest Breeze Spa and Wellness Center located by the main hotel building catches the cool sea breeze and harnesses the energies of the ancient forest to provide a perfect ambience in which to relax.

Watersports – the watersports center offers a variety of watersports equipment for hire. You are invited to rent snorkelling equipment, kayaks, skim and boogie boards, stand-up paddleboards, surfboards and windsurfing equipment.

Nomad Wine Cellar – a stunning wine cellar houses a premier range of Old and New World wines from around the world. Private tastings and special menus can be put together on request.
