BATONKA GUEST LODGE – VICTORIA FALLS

Set in lush gardens in a leafy suberb of Victoria Falls Batonka Guest Lodge is a tranquil haven away from the bustle of town but within easy walking distance of the main attractions – this little lodge has become renowned for its exceptional service standards.

Set just 2km from Victoira Falls town and 20 minutes drive from Victoria Falls International Airport, the lodge offers 27 well-appointed rooms with elegant, contemporary style décor reflecting Victoria Falls’ colonial past and African flavour. All rooms are air conditioned and have ensuite bathrooms and a private balcony/patio and there are a few rooms offering an interleading room option which is ideal for families. The main lodge offers indoor and outdoor dining, a cosy lounge and beautiful veranda opening out onto the surrounding gardens and swimming pool areas.

A perfect base for those on a budget or travelling with family, the lodge offers a wonderful spot to relax and get over your international flight before heading out on safari or as a last stop before heading home – and you can book a huge variety of excursions directly at the hotel in and around Victoria Falls – or simply relax in the gardens overlooking the pool.

LOCATION

The lodge is located around 2km from Victoria Falls Town. Access is via Victoria Falls airport from where it is a 20 minute road transfer to the lodge.

LODGE

The lodge has 16 Pool Side Rooms with private patios which look out over manicured lawns to the secluded pool area.

There are also 11 Garden Rooms with spacious patios overlooking a private garden with manicured lawns and indigenous trees. Eight of these rooms inter-lead and are ideal for families or groups travelling together.

One of these rooms has an annex which has been set up as a child’s room. It has two single beds with an adjoining bath and toilet and is decorated in child friendly prints and style. It is one of the inter-leading rooms so with the annex, main room, and the inter-leading it comfortable fits a family of six.

All the rooms have a spacious ensuite bathroom with double basins and large shower. The king size beds have ceiling to floor mosquito nets and the rooms are cooled by fans and air-conditioning. There is a 43” flat screen TV with ten satellite channels, a mini bar fridge with complimentary water, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryers, digital safes and international plug and USB sockets. Wi-Fi is available at the lodge.

The restaurant combines a relaxed dining experience with home-style cooking with a choice of an indoor or outdoor dining experience. The lodge offers three meals a day – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is a full continental breakfast which includes a range of cold meats, cheeses, fruits, cereals, muffins and also croissants with a choice of a cooked breakfast as well. Lunch is an À la carte menu with 6 options and also a choice of desserts. We also have toasted sandwiches throughout the day. Dinner is a 3-course menu with 2 options in each course.

The restaurant has a fully stocked bar with a range of different wine and spirits. The bar is also equipped with a coffee machine offering a selection of different coffees and teas.

There are two pools – one that services the main lodge and the other in the Flame lily wing. Both have comfortable poolside loungers that are set in private drop-down gardens.

ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE

There is a huge range of activities in and around Victoria Falls and you can book these on arrival directly with the lodge including bungee jumps, helicopter flights, gorge swings, microlight flights, Flying Fox, river cruises, zipline, white water rafting, a canopy tour and fishing. Wildlife options include game drives, a hide experience, bird watching, elephant art, elephant interactions, a rhino walk and horse riding.

Batonka is seriously committed to safeguarding our environment today and for generations to come. We have not only invested in conservation programmes and environmental protection but have also committed to promoting energy efficiency, reduced water usage and recycling of refuse in our business. This includes solar heating water boilers throughout the lodge, grey water collection and recycling in the garden, inverter styled air conditioners that us less power, LED globes and separation of refuse for recycling.
