MACUSHLA HOUSE – KAREN – NAIROBI
Macushla House is set in the Langata area of Karen in the leafy garden suburbs of Nairobi and is a small and intimate guest house with just 6 guest rooms all individually furnished.
Owner managed and boutique in style – stay here if you would prefer a friendly, personal stay close to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, The Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum.
The guest house has comfortable lounge, bar and dining areas, gardens, a swimming pool and a separate chalet with two bedrooms suitable for a family. The friendly owners are always around for a chat and to offer recommendations which really makes staying here a home from home.
LOCATION
Macushla is located approximately 30km from Nairobi International Airport and around 14km via Langata Road to Wilson Airport. Times for transfers vary depending on the time of day.
HOUSE
There are just six rooms which are individually furnished with four poster beds and colourful fabrics and rugs. All the rooms have ensuite bathrooms with walk in showers and some rooms have a bathtub.
The house is formed from two semi-detached houses and you can choose from courtyard rooms with private entrances to double, twin or triple rooms or a family chalet.
All the main areas of the house are comfortably furnished and there are lots of areas to find a private spot to sit and read a book or magazine and have a cup of tea. The lounge is African themed with zebra prints and there are fireplaces which are lit during cold evenings.
The guest house has a small dining room where evening meals are served, or you can enjoy a light lunch on the covered veranda in the shade. In the gardens is a good sized swimming pool with sun loungers.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE
There are a number of outstanding activities in and around the Karen area including the Giraffe Centre where you can hand-feed Rothschild giraffe, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust housing the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the Karen Blixen Musuem. Within the area are a number of very good restaurants and for some last minute shopping you will find galleries, craft shops and Kazuri Beads is well worth a visit.
