ELEWANA THE MANOR AT NGORONGORO

The Manor at Ngorongoro is located in north west Tanzania and with its 9 luxurious cottages (18 Suites), family cottage, and magnificent main Manor House, is one of the first safari lodges of its kind to blend East African hospitality with old-world Afro-European architecture and decor.

Close to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant country farm home in the Cape Dutch style of architecture.  Every detail of The Manor has been designed with its guests comfort in mind – each of the cottages has been carefully positioned to enjoy the views of the hills but at the same time to maintain the intimacy and privacy of this old-world Manor home.  There is a choice of activities such as lunch on the Ngorongoro Crater Floor, a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park, and horse riding around the 1500-acre coffee estate.

Adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in north-west Tanzania.

THE LODGE

The lodge has 18 Manor Suites – each Suite has its own private entrance, and adjoining private sun terrace. A double open-fronted log-burning fireplace divides a room interior that mirrors the traditional Cape Dutch architecture. The ensuite bath and shower room has a Victorian-style claw-footed bath, twin vanity basins and large ‘rainfall’ shower.

For families there is the Stable Cottage which which has 3 Stable Cottage Rooms and 3 bathrooms. An expansive living area incorporates a lounge area, TV room and dining room. You can dine privately in the accommodation and enjoy complete privacy.

ACTIVITIES

Game Drives in Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation Area – descend to the floor of the crater and enjoy a magnificent wildlife spectacle as you experience a variety of landscapes, from open grasslands dotted with game, soda lakes coloured pink with flamingo and dense riverine woodland.  A half-day or full-day gamedrive into the Ngorongoro Crater is included in a Game Package

Horse Riding  – take a canter or a leisurely walk on a horse through the fertile grounds of the surrounding gardens and coffee plantation. The Manor has a stable of horses and ponies suitable for most ages.  Horse riding is at an additional cost.

Day Excursions Lake Manyara National Park – known for its variety of landscapes, beautiful trees, wildlife and stunning lake.  Habitats vary from dense forest, to soda lake wetland, open grasslands and acacia thickets.

Olduvai Gorge – is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in East Africa and is famous as the place where Louis and Mary Leakey made some of the most important discoveries of early hominids. A still active excavation site – you can visit where some of the earliest hominids lived and breathed.  A full-day excusion is included in a Game Package

Coffee Tours – the Manor at Ngorongoro is located on a working coffee estate called Shangri-La. Take a tour to learn more about the world’s most famous morning beverage!

Mountain Biking – take one of mountain bikes and explore the surrounding gardens and coffee estate at your own leisure.  Mountain biking included in Game Package.

Massage and Spa Treatments –  indulge in a pampering massage or treatment from The Manor’s own spa.  Spa treatments not included in Game Package.

Swimming – enjoy a refreshing dip in The Manor’s pool!
