SINGITA FARU FARU LODGE – SINGITA GRUMETI RESERVE – WESTERN SERENGETI
Situated in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park, Singita Faru Faru Lodge overlooks a natural waterhole and the tree line of the Grumeti River. Singita Grumeti spans over 350,000 acreas of wilderness and forms part of the Serengeti Mara ecostystem.
The nine stone, canvas and thatched suites (including a family suite and a 2-bedroom villa) feel like a classic safari camp, yet the interiors offer luxurious contemporary chic with panoramic glass windows, mirrored room dividers and claw-foot baths.
There is a natural watering hole at the camp, and you can sit and watch the wildlife come to you from your own room, from the viewing decks and whilst lounging in the swimming pool overlooking the waterhole.
LOCATION
Singita Faru Faru is located in the Singita Grumeti Reserve in western Serengeti in northern Tanzania. The nearest airstrip is Sasakwa which is 45 – 60 minutes from camp.
LODGE
The main living and dining areas are expansive with enclosed dining and lounge areas creating cool places of retreat. An interactive kitchen adds a dynamic to the dining experience while open seating areas will have been pulled forward for closer engagement with nature. Central areas, including a Singita signature ‘bar-deli’ encourage guests to come together to drink, eat and enjoy the breath-taking views.
Shaped organically with its main focus on the waterhole, the buildings have been enhanced by the creative use of locally sourced natural materials and the colours throughout are bone, ivory, nude and clay, perfectly combining rustic and real bush appeal brushed over with a fresh and clean-lined modernity allowing animals and nature to take centre stage.
The seven One Bedroom suites have ensuite bathrooms with an inside bath and outside shower.
Two regular suites that are river facing and can be made into either a double or twin. They share a central lounge, spacious deck, both have en suite with inside bath and outside shower, and a private plunge pool. The unit is under one big canvas roof with stone walls.
The Family Suite has a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom with inside bath and outside shower. The smaller second twin has an ensuite with outside bath and shower can only accommodate children. The rooms are not inter-leading but separated by a small passage each with own entrance. The rooms share an outside deck area.
All the suites have air-conditioning, overhead fans, minibar and fridge, tea/coffee station, digital safe, hairdryer, bathroom amenities, direct dial telephone and small game-viewing deck.
ACTIVITIES
Spanning over 350,000 acres of untouched wilderness, Singita Grumeti is located in the western Serengeti in northern Tanzania, forming part of the Serengeti Mara ecosystem.
Game drives – daily game drives with professional guides and trackers provide the perfect opportunity to get up close to Africa’s incredible animals. The lodge also offers night drives. Game drives are all conducted in Land Cruisers, each accommodating a maximum of six guests and during your stay you are likely to spot a great variety of wildlife including cheetah, bearded wildebeest, bat eared fox, black rhino, Maasai giraffe, lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, zebra and the rare Colobus monkey.
Walking Safaris – get out and stretch your legs in the bush with a professional and experienced guide. This activity is available to those 16 years and older.
Families – all activities at the lodge are tailored to specifically suit the interests of each family. In the interest of safety, children may participate in game drives and bush walks at the discretion of dedicated Field Guides. The lodge also offers childminding services, as well as an array of activities to keep little ones engaged and entertained. Singita’s Mini Rangers Course is a customised, fun-filled programme that opens up a whole new world to young explorers. It includes learning how to track animals; astronomy; bush survival techniques; game, tree and bird-spotting competitions, as well as nature quizzes.
Community tour – visit the Environmental Education Centre which was developed for the young people of the local communities to meet the students and learn about the programme. The Centre is dedicated to instilling in its students an understanding of the Serengeti Ecosystem and provides education on the rationale behind “protected areas” and on general, local and global environmental issues.
Boutique and Gallery – not your regular curio shop, you will find original treasures that have been gathered from all corners of the African continent.
Premier Wine Boutique – Singita’s cellars are home to some of the most sought-after private reserves and vintage wines and whether you are a connoisseur or just enjoy the occasional glass of wine, experienced sommeliers will introducing you to a vast selection of varietals from all over the world.
Spa and Gym – rejuvenate and pamper yourself at the spa or work out in the fully equipped gym.
Swimming – there are two pools at the main lodge area at Singita Faru Faru Lodge as well as a private infinity pool at the lodge’s private villa suite.
Balloon Safari – charter a hot air balloon for an unforgettable ride over the treetops of the Serengeti. You’ll skim above the grasslands and acacia forests, and at other times ascend to 1 000 feet to see the enormity of the reserve.
Canine Unit Experience – visit the SGF Canine Unit to meet the handlers and learn more about how this specialized anti-poaching unit works to protect the Grumeti region in the Serengeti. Watch as the dogs use their skills to detect a piece of wildlife contraband hidden for the demonstration. If the dogs are working on tracking, you may be able to experience their ability to track a person through the bush. Due to the sensitive and costly nature of the programme, a donation amount of $500 per person has been set. A minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 guests is allowed per demonstration.

THE LODGE WELCOMES CHILDREN AGED 10 AND OVER AND HAS DEDICATED FAMILY ACCOMMODATION AND THE MINI RANGERS COURSE. THERE ARE BABYSITTING SERVICES AVAILABLE AND TAILOR MADE ACTIVITIES TO SUITE EACH FAMILY
