Location
Hobatere Lodge lies on the western border of Etosha National Park, inside a 8,800-hectare private concession in the Hobatere Concession Area. This remote location grants guests access to wildlife-rich territory with minimal crowds, making it a dream for nature lovers and photographers. The lodge is conveniently located for travellers entering or exiting Etosha’s Galton Gate.
The Lodge
The lodge features thatched chalets and spacious rooms, each with en-suite facilities and shaded verandas that overlook a well-frequented waterhole. Guests can spot elephants, lions, antelopes, and more—sometimes without even leaving their room. A welcoming dining area, large lounge, and expansive wooden deck make it a peaceful and social retreat between wildlife encounters.
Activities & Wildlife
Game drives through the Hobatere concession reveal an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and diverse antelope species. Birdwatching is equally rewarding, with over 300 species recorded. Night drives are a highlight, offering the chance to see nocturnal creatures such as aardwolves, bat-eared foxes, and owls. Evenings spent on the lodge deck can be just as rewarding, with regular visits from game to the lodge’s nearby waterhole.

Hobatere Lodge is now proudly managed and operated by the local community, offering guests the opportunity to directly support community development and conservation efforts with their stay. Revenue generated from tourism is invested back into education, wildlife protection, and livelihood development in nearby villages. The lodge works hand-in-hand with Namibia’s award-winning communal conservancy model, strengthening local stewardship of wildlife.
