SPLASH CAMP – KWANDO CONCESSION – OKAVANGO DELTA
Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta within the Kwara Private Reserve. Located around a natural waterhole which attracts game year round the camp features 12 spacious ensuite rooms as well as a main area, bar, dining area and swimming pool.
The area has long been known as Splash due to the huge water crossings that had to be negotiated to access the camp area. The camp is situated in a permanent water location and can offer the following year-round activities: game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, mokoro, and seasonal fishing (Mar-Dec only).
Due to its location in a private concession game drives can go off road to allow vehicles to be positioned closer to special predator sighting which enhances the photographic and game viewing experience.
LOCATION
Splash is located in the private Kwara in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana.
CAMP
Splash’s decor is contemporary yet simple and in keeping with the Kwando Safaris’ philosophy of being immersed in nature and all the rooms are open to the sounds of the bush.
Each of the ten rooms are situated around the natural waterhole and two of these are family rooms. There are an additional two guide rooms which are identical to guest rooms. All the tents are en-suite with a flush toilet, double sinks, both an indoor and an outdoor shower and a private veranda with outdoor lounge chairs – the perfect place to relax and take in the wonderful views.
The family rooms are identical except for an additional adjoining twin bedroom for the children (one bathroom only).
The main area, which is in the centre of the camp, is open air and allows the cool breeze to flow through and watch the animals that come down to drink. Within the main area, there is a bar, and lounge a plunge pool and a curio shop. The area are simply and elegantly decorated with contemporary furniture complementing the atmosphere of the camp.
Just in front towards the pan is the fire pit where a light breakfast is served each day before heading off on activities and stories are told after supper in the evenings.
ACTIVITIES AND WILDLIFE
The Kwara Reserve shares a 30km water boundary with the famous Moremi Game Reserve and its unique location boasts both permanent water and seasonal flood plains as well as extensive dry bush wilderness. Characterised by labyrinths of permanent water channels and secret islands this area offers an outstanding delta experience and is considered to be amongst the best in Botswana for wildlife and year round water activities.
Game Drives – as Splash in the Kwara Private Reserve game drives are able to go off-road and continue after sunset offering significantly better game viewing and photographic opportunities.
Mokoro – are a great way to see and appreciate the delta from a different angle. This activity is available year-round at Splash due to the camp being situated in a permanent water location.
Power Boat Excursions – wind your way through the narrow channels of the delta. Boating is available year round at Splash due to the camp being situated in a permanent water location.
