SEDIBA SA RONA – KHWAI CONCESSION
Sediba Sa Rona—meaning “our natural spring”— is set within the wildlife-rich Kwai Concession which consistently delivers some of the most concentrated wildlife viewing in Botswana. The lodge sits at a natural crossroads—where the Okavango Delta’s permanent waterways, the seasonal floodplains of the Kwai River, and the dry woodlands and open grasslands of the Mababe Depression – meet and overlap.
Overlooking the Khwai River and bordering Moremi Game Reserve, Sediba SaRona is positioned beneath a canopy of leadwood and fig trees and is a story of inspiration and upliftment. Originally Khwai River Lodge, the lodge has been fully refurbished and revitalised and represents Desert and Delta’s commitment to Botswana citizen involvement in tourism, as well as sustainable development.
LOCATION
Sediba Sa Rona is set on a private concession within the Khwai area of the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. Access is generally via light aircraft transfer into the Kwai region, followed by a short game drive into camp.

THE LODGE
The lodge has 15 Luxury Tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, and outdoor decks with stunning views over the Khwai River. Nature is all around, offering opportunities to spot wildlife from all the tents and main areas.
Meals are served in the main dining area, where communal dining reflects a culture of connection, community, and sharing. For families with specific dining needs, those seeking privacy, or guests celebrating a special occasion, private dining can be arranged on request. There are lots of areas to enjoy a drink, from the well-stocked bar to comfortable indoor lounges, and outdoor viewing areas.
The lodge has a swimming pool to cool down and chill in-between game drives, and in the evening a fire is lit in the open-air fire deck overlooking the Khwai River – a great spot for stargazing. The lodge has a spa – a haven for relaxation with an array of professional wellness treatments available.

WILDLIFE AND ACTIVITIES
Unlike more water-dominated parts of the Delta, Kwai offers year-round game viewing with a broader ecological range. Explore the concession in search big game such as elephants, wild dogs and cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs.
High densities of elephant, often seen in large, fluid herds moving between woodland and water
Strong predator presence, including lion, leopard, wild dog, and spotted hyena
Seasonal plains game concentrations, particularly when floodwaters recede and fresh grazing emerges
Exceptional birdlife, driven by the mix of aquatic and terrestrial habitats
Birding is excellent year-round with kingfishers (including Pied, Malachite, Giant, Woodland, and Mangrove), African fish eagles, Pels fishing owls, and African jacanas.
One of Sediba Sa Rona’s key advantages is access to a private concession. This allows for a more flexible and varied safari experience than in national parks:
Game drives (day and night): Night drives are a particular highlight, revealing nocturnal species and predator behaviour rarely seen elsewhere
Off-road driving: Guides can track animals more closely, enabling more intimate sightings
Seasonal water activities: When water levels permit, exploring channels by mokoro or boat adds another dimension
Walking safaris: A chance to understand the smaller details of this complex ecosystem
The interplay between habitats means no two days are alike. You might spend a morning tracking lion across open plains, an afternoon watching elephants at the river, and an evening encountering hyena or genet on a night drive.
