11 NIGHT ZIMBABWE AND BOTSWANA NO FLYING SAFARI – A PRIVATE JOURNEY
WITH ROAD TRANSFERS THROUGHOUT
If you are not so keen on flying in light aircraft then why not look at our no flying safari which takes advantage of the good road links to get you from park to park. Your journey will start in Victoria Falls at the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel – with dramatic views of the gorges of Zimbabwe’s spectacular Victoria Falls. The Victoria Falls Hotel was built by the British in 1904 and was originally conceived as accommodation for workers on the Cape-to-Cairo railway. We have included a Falls visit and a sunset cruise.
You will then transfer by road to Hwange National Park and stay at the lovely Somalisa Tented Camp. Hwange National Park is a land of contrasts from dense teak and acacia forest to vast open savannah and Somalisa is tucked away under the dappled shade of an Acacia grove along the edge of an ancient seasonal floodplain. It is possible to get up-close encounters with elephants at Somalisa – at the edge of the expansive deck in the main camp area there is an elephant pool which is frequented by elephant families – a real highlight! Activities include walking safaris, game drives, birding and cultural visits – all are included in your stay and led by qualified and passionate guides.
After Hwange you will transfer by road to Zambezi Sands perched on the banks of the Zambezi River inside the Zambezi National Park and just over an hour’s drive from Victoria Falls. The area offers some good game viewing opportunities – whether you chose to drive or walk – and the experienced guides take great pleasure in introducing you to the camp’s pristine and tranquil surroundings. There are just 10 secluded Bedouin luxury tents – offering complete privacy – dotted along the river bank and activities include game drives, game walks, fishing, canoeing and bush breakfasts and spa treatments available at an additional charge. Further afield you can enjoy a variety of options for further activities in and around Victoria Falls including river cruises, white water rafting, bungee jumping, microlight flights over the Falls – or some souvenir shopping.
Finally you will transfer by road across the border into Botswana and on to the Chobe National Park and Muchenje Lodge – situated high on an escarpment on the quieter western side of Botswana’s Chobe National Park. With wonderful views of the Chobe River and the seasonal flood plains and the camp is set within the Chobe Forest Reserve – just a short drive from Chobe National Park. Chobe is renowned for its prolific wildlife and huge concentrations of game and activities include morning, afternoon and evening game drives, a whole day safari with boat cruise on the Chobe River, walking safaris and community and school visits.
