15 Night Victoria Falls, Wildlife and Adventure Canoe Safari
Hwange, Lake Kariba and The Great Zambezi River
Our Victoria Falls, Wildlife and Adventure Canoe Safari is an active adventure – your first stop on the journey will be Victoria Falls where you can participate in the many exhilarating activities available or simply relax after your long international flight.
You next stop will be Hwange National Park for a traditional safari under canvas with 4 x 4 day and evening safaris and walking safaris. Hwange’s mix of different habitats and landscape types means that game viewing is superb year round. Wildlife frequently seen includes lion, large herds of elephant, buffalo, cheetah, leopard, spotted hyaena, giraffe, sable, roan, blue wildebeest, impala, waterbuck and reedbuck. In summer, wildebeest, zebra and eland are found in abundance on the open plains, while in winter elephant congregate in enormous numbers around the waterholes. Birdlife in the area is prolific with in excess of 400 species recorded.
Your last stop will be Kariba where you will join your 7 night adventure canoeing expedition along the Zambezi River wild camping on river islands at night. This canoe safari is self-contained – all equipment and food is carried in the canoes and there is no vehicle back-up apart from drop-off and pick-up. As the safaris are semi-participatory you will be required to help set up tents and to assist the guide with the cooking and washing up.
All camping equipment is supplied. This includes gas stoves, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, plastic plates, mugs, tables, stools, camping mattresses, sleeping bags and liners, candles, matches, cooler boxes and dome tents. You can bring your own sleeping bags if preferred.
You will then fly back to Victoria Falls to connect with your international flight home. This journey can easily be extended to enjoy more time on safari on Lake Kariba or Mana Pools or you can hop across the border from Victoria Falls to Botswana, Zambia or Namibia – please ask!
Please note that the canoe safari only runs from April – November. As this is a tailor made journey we can offer other canoe options if travelling outside these dates. Minimum age is 14.
